I'm all for defederating Hexbear, but lemmy.ml is absolutely huge compared to Hexbear. To motivate the community to do that you'd need quite a bit of proof. Or at least something rather compelling. Do you have any proof of what you're referring to?

Probably my wheelchair. It's a pretty nifty little chair that has quite a few unique features. Also I would need it to get there anyway. Otherwise maybe one of my drawings.

The developer has said that posting will come in next weeks update. Just be patient for a bit.

Good job. ADHD can be a real struggle. 💜

Open the drawer, if using drawer navigation or the bottom bar if using bottom bar navigation and tap explore, then you'll see subscribed and local are options, you can tap the three dots next to each to make it the default.

Be sure that the account that downloaded the app through the play store is the same account that purchased the ad free version. This is usually my problem when I get an error like this.

Sync is the best Lemmy and formerly Reddit client there ever was. I'd be more than happy to help out as much as I can.

As frustrating as that would be, it wouldn't be permanent I know they're very serious with backups. A roll back is annoying but not really that damaging.

I'm currently running an instance on Ubuntu but I'm wondering if it can be moved to my windows computer?

They're are also other apps, like liftoff which I think is really good. Also thunder if you're big on gestures.

Thanks! Now I get it.

I don't get it and I see weird bean posts all over.

Not quite. From what I've read, I think only text is downloaded, pictures and other media are just links. So not everything needs to be downloaded. Also to trigger/maintain this connection (federation) at least one person from your instance needs to be subscribed.

But you won't find this community in the search bar because you're not federated yet. So to trigger the initial federation you'll need to search for the full URL, the entire URL including "https://" (https://lemdro.id/c/android) It won't show up at first, so try again in a few seconds, and sometimes you'll need to try a lot of times if the instances are running slowly. But eventually your instance will find the other community on the other instance.

But at the time I'm writing this lemdro.id is apparently offline so it won't work at all right now.

I've created two 2 instances and am admin of both. I'd like to transfer my account across or at least federate with all my subscriptions. It would take me all day to find all those communities again.

On Ubuntu I was using sudo with no problem this morning but this evening my password is incorrect... I don't think there's anything I can do...

My question is, can I move my Lemmy instance from this machine to another? I understand very little about this. I'm very new at this... So please eli5.

404: FetchError: request to http://lemmy:8536/api/v3/site

and the command docker compose -p lemmy-easy-deploy logs -f yeilds a bunch of nonsense but this line stood out...

Error: LemmyError { message: Some("Cannot have both private instance and federation enabled."), inner: Cannot have both private instance and federation enabled., context: "SpanTrace" }

I understand it's probably not ideal for a variety of reasons but I'm still very curious if it can be done.

If I toggle it on and off it'll actually stay off for a day or two but it always comes back. I'm on a Galaxy S20 Android 13 I believe.

It's been sitting here frozen like this for a really long time, hours actually. I'm trying to install Lemmy on my raspberry pi. The terminal hasn't moved at all in hours, but the mouse will nudge a little after like a minute of lag. Is it frozen in a broken way? Or should I just try and leave it for the night?

I've been trying to setup a personal Lemmy instance for better control over federation, but I've run in to many error messages, most of I solved on my own but here's this one...

soullioness@raspberrypi:~ $ docker-compose up -d ERROR: yaml.constructor.ConstructorError: while constructing a mapping in "./docker-compose.yml", line 36, column 12 found unhashable key in "./docker-compose.yml", line 36, column 13

I can't for the life of me figure this out. I can't find any helpful info online either.

Edit: I'm using a raspberry pi 3 I'm sure there is more info I'm forgetting just let me know.
