If we do the analogy with CPU, then plank time is CPU clock, and plank length the discretisation of field, a bit like floating point precision. At each clock, causality influence the cell next to her.

But in this case, why the universe so huge and why speed of light so slow ?

I mean, speed of light is fucking slow compared to universe, but quite instantaneous at our scale. It seems like the simulation has been designed to work well at our scale. So, are we the subject of the simulation, or an unexpected side effect ?

I think you know the simulation hypothesis. Our universe could be a simulation created by... well, let's call them "gods".

But, if the simulation continue, we, humans, may reach the point where we could create a simulation of our own universe. In which, the simulated people would reach the point where they simulate their universe, etc...

So, as a corollary, it is not possible to simulate the entire universe, because this imply simulating an infinity of entire universe. It is only possible to simulate a simpler, smaller universe at each "layer".

So my question, are we at the top of the stack, or at the bottom ? Which would imply a much bigger and much more complexe universe above us.

Also, water you are drinking has probably been peed by dinosaure. Several time. But probably not peed by a human.

We have a long history of complaining and resisting to quite anything, bad or good. And also cutting head from time to time.

The 2ks was also the "terrorism" era. I don't want to kill the mood, but nostalgia is very strong in erasing bad stuff.

But I'm feeling like you. I miss Counter Strike LAN parties and Linking Park too ๐Ÿ™‚

SLB had acquired Celsius Energy, a company that deploy low depth geothermal solution. They are also partner with Genvia to developpe hydrogen. And have also plans for offshore wind turbines. Oil company all have plan to transition to new energy. Then know oil is not a long terme business. The problem is doing the transition while making money. If you dont make money, you die. And if you die, you cannot do transition. Unfortunately, oil still generate shitload of money...

Agree, carbon capture process is quite efficient now. I'm working on (pretty big) company doing Carbon Capture and Sequestration. The idea is to use empty oil&gaz reservoir to inject back carbon where it comes from. So there are several advantage:

  • The land is already messed up by former drilling platerform. No need to shave another forest to create a facility
  • No waste to handle, as the captured carbon is injected in the underground. We also study the possibility to inject other kind of waste, like domestic ones.
  • Simplified process as we can keep Co2 in gaz state to inject back in former natural gaz reservoir. Not even needed to extract carbon to solodify it.
  • Yes, trees are much more efficient and eco-friendly, but sometime we cannot just plant billions of trees. Whereas a CCS facility is relatively small compared to a whole forest.
