Well, if you can find it, the Emerson Gentleman Jim is pretty close. Cross-posting this to !pocketknife@lemmy.world
If you need to buy from outside Canada I would recommend sticking with a known good retailer like
https://www.knifecenter.com or
I have only small anecdotal evidence that these are good places in Canada to buy from:

I do know you should avoid House of Knives in Canada at all costs.
It's hard to know what is and is not a no-name brand if you're new to knives. There's no discernible difference (on the surface) between a pop-up vendor who just re-brands cheap knives and a true manufacturer. One of the best ways to start figuring this out is to not shop on Amazon. A dedicated and trusted knife store like: BladeHQ, KnifeCenter, WhiteMountainKnives, KnifeJoy, KnivesShipFree, and a few others, will give you the best info. You will find better ways to filter and budget options that are much better choices. But it's still overwhelming.
If you have a specific style of knife you're looking for, and you're not sure if it's a good or bad brand, I'd start by asking here (or over in pocketknife@lemmy.world
As other's have said, there are some good budget brands out there for well under $50.
So this appears to be a rip-off of the Frost Cutlery .... and I can't believe I'm writing this.... Cockfighter IV.

In the examples I've seen, instead of the word "stainless" in gold it has the Frost logo.
edit: Ebay shows a non-serrated version available now! ;)
Doesn't rake have a slang definition related to debauchery or a lack of self-control? Not sure that helps at all as that sounds even worse. My guess though is it is one of the verb usages: to move swiftly over a surface or to scratch
I find myself not carrying any assisted-open knives anymore. People think they're automatic knives, end up being unable to close them properly when borrowed, and generally the knives just raise too many eyebrows. I used to carry the Scallion to work because of blade length restrictions but since the Baby Banter and the Maileah showed up, I don't really feel the urge.
Jansport is excellent. I recently sent a 30-year-old bag in for warranty work which they honored at no cost to me other than shipping. A great choice.
I'm really lost without a comparison photo featuring the CQC-6K. 🤭
This is certainly worthy of a "thank you I hate it" meme. That said, this is a totem in the knife community. If you've not seen or heard of this knife you simply are not a yet a full "knife person." You don't have to own one, good gods I'm not a (sea) monster. But if you know, you know. You know? It's a right of passage to acknowledge this bonkers knife from the Bokers company.
A classic. Great utility, hard working, no-nonsense. I did swap out the pocket clip on mine for the short deep-carry. If you don't mind me asking, what do you use for sharpening?
I did not know they had this but that sounds great. Maybe a better choice than the Sandrin knife I really want to get but cannot possibly justify. :)
Very rarely do I find myself needing a serrated blade. Every once in a while, when cutting cordage, a serrated blade works a bit better, but with the right grind and a well sharpened knife, a plain edge works for my needs. If I was to get a serrated blade, it would be 100% as a partially serrated blade fails on most tasks.
Silly penguin, you're supposed to attach it to your keys in the open position!
