This is one of my favorite historical experiments and I am thrilled you've made a meme about it.

I do not believe in the supernatural, magic, ghosts or anything like that. However, I can be very superstitious about tempting fate and won't make jokes or flippant remarks that could be interpretted as such.

For example, my partner made a dark joke about how she'd rather have cancer than such and such. I begged her not to say such things, not because the thought of her having cancer upset me (although it did), but because it feels as if saying stuff like that could make it happen.

Bonus question, do you have a favorite work resteoom that's out of the way and less likely to be disturbed?

I think my record is about 15 minutes and my favorite restroom is located on an unoccupied floor. Currently there scrolling lemmy ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

You can also tell a claystone from a siltstone by rubbing it against your teeth! If it rubs smoothly without friction then it's a claystone. If it feels abrasive then it's a siltstone.

Lik the bone (lemmy.world)

Tumblr thread, one user says that archeologists identify human remains by taste. A second user points out that this is not true, bone is identified as not a normal rock by touching it to your tongue and seeing if it sticks. If it does then bone.

Third user shares a poem they wrote: mai nam is jane and wen i dig i fynde some roks both smol and big i put my tung upon the stone for science yes i lik the bone

4th user is an archeologist and is crying laughing with a bunch of other archeologists and they're going to have shirts made with the poem.

Alt: The Daft Punk album Random Access Memories selling for $276, a good deal since it's usually $399.99. This is a joke referencing the increase in the price of computer ram.

The couple got married on Dec. 11 in Cambridge, celebrating a cozy reception in the Harvard Art Museum. Ten days later, on Dec. 21, they boarded Epstein’s plane in Bedford, Massachusetts, according to publicly available flight logs — bound for Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, the standard jumping-off point for reaching Epstein’s private island by helicopter.

Those logs also list Ghislaine Maxwell, who was later convicted as Epstein’s partner-in-crime, and Epstein’s longtime pilot, Larry Visoski, as passengers on the same flight.

Title. If I believed my country was about to experience large increases in inflation, similar to Turkey how can I best position myself for the future and what should I take care of now, before it happens?

Would it make sense to only make minimum payments against debt? Should I spend money instead of saving it? If I don't need to make a large purchase now but will in the future, should I go ahead and do it?

edit: I'm talking about 30%-80%+ inflation folks, not the kind of inflation most developed countries have exprienced in recent memory. If someone had enough money to invest in things which could survive that then they wouldn't have to worry about debt payments and making big purchases. I am asking for practical advice for the average person, not a way to invest.

Screenshot of a Bluesky post of a fossilized cuttlefish that looks like a dickhead and part of a shaft. The scientist claims it was carried around by prehistoric humans 250,000 years ago and we don't know why, but they will talk about why in an episode of the podcast The Fossil Files

Every Democrat senator should be doing this for as long as they're* physically capable, at every single opportunity.

I've never been a fan of Booker but hot damn am I excited watching him close in on Klansman Thurmond's record.

He's a collaborator. As is anyone who legitimizes, supports, or serves Trump and the fascist Republican party.

There were several other good posts in the thread but I cropped them out because I hate long screenshots.
