NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has agreed to a four-year, $285 million super maximum contract extension with the champion Oklahoma City Thunder through the 2030-31 season, sources told ESPN on Tuesday.

This is now the richest annual salary for a player in league history.

He has now signed two contract extensions as a member of the Thunder, cementing both sides' partnership and trust since he arrived in Oklahoma City in 2019.

So the other day I went ahead and installed the current beta on my M1 iPad Pro to try out. I’m currently typed this in Arctic on the iPad right now in a window that doesn’t try to snap to pre-determined lanes! Crazy!

I have generally been using it with Universal Control from my Mac to get the mouse and keyboard over, and that - so far - works pretty well.

But I wanted to open the floor up to see if anyone else has tried it and what their opinions are. Or, if you haven’t and have a question about the windowing stuff, I or others might be able to field them.

For me, other than what I’ll chalk up to beta bugs mostly, I do think this has legs. Obviously not the full macOS everyone has been clamoring for, but it’s certainly usable and more or less works like you assume it works. Hopefully down the line Apple will figure out how to extend the background tasks to include stuff like running local servers/Node and whatnot for project development. But we’ll see.

There is some wonkiness when putting a window to the top of the screen, as it then has to do some battling with the clock/battery area and the new menu bar dropdown. At that point you have to click to get to the stop lights where otherwise you can just hover over them.

So anyway, how has the beta been treating you? Or if you have questions an interaction or whatever, we can all help answer them.

Edit: I’m editing this to share an article from MacStories interviewing Craig Federighi about the iPad:

On this timeline, Jones will get it all back and somehow bankrupt the sandy hook families because we can never have nice things.

This is a pretty great, long form post about the structure of Bluesky, and how it's largely kinda pretending to be decentralized at the moment. I'm not trying to make a dig at it. I've enjoyed the platform myself for a while, but it's good to learn more about how it actually works.

This article was shared on Mastodon via its author here.

This type of stuff is only going to get worse in the next four years.

This is the USA, someone with a loaded gun in their car is near anything all the time.

“I think there has been a lot of inequality in that only certain people can get financing [...] so this notion of decentralized finance is obviously very appealing to guys like me who have been debanked,” Donald Trump Jr. said in the interview on Locals.

Ha. "I'm toxic to banks so we are going to try and grift our idiot followers" is fun.

“Death panels!” the conservatives shouted. “The government will have death panels!”

The rubes ate it up, not realizing they had death panels the entire time and paid more for them.

He profited from the secret service (and by proxy, us) the whole time he was president when he made them pay full price to have rooms at his garbage resort in Florida.

This should not be a surprise.

“Could be?”

We know it is. I don’t wish for Covid again, but remember when all the waterways started clearing up (didn’t dolphins show up in Venice at some point?) and the smog cleared in places that haven’t seen a blue sky in decades?

“Our cheese is so good they had to disqualify us” would be my new slogan so fast.

Weird how every one of these tests shows most people use the money to better themselves instead of wasting it all like right wing media would say.

Super weird.

You force me to check out my own groceries. Fine.

But don’t get pissed when I have a lot of groceries and have to move my bags because you gave me one square foot of space to bag everything. That’s often my biggest frustration. The robot thinks I’m trying to do some shady stuff, and I’m not.

So I have a weird one for you guys, and I’d like to see if anyone has ever come up across this one.

This is a Messages bug, and as far as I can tell it’s only on iPad since I’ve never seen this on my phone that has the same chats in it.

Basically it goes like this: I have a group chat with a few friends, and on iPad every so often when I open Messages and it’s on that chat (since that was the last place I left off) it’ll show me not the current state of the chat, but three messages (and only those three messages) from somewhere back in 2022.

I can only scroll up and down as far as those three messages will allow. It’s as if those are the only messages available to me.

However, if I tap the group chat again in the list, it goes back to normal. Loads everything and is fine.

I’ve never seen this happen on my phone, just my iPad. I was hoping the new update would fix it, but alas.

Has anyone ever run into this? I’m about to just tell them we need a new group chat.

I know I’m not the only one who has been saying that this type of move makes perfect sense for governments and news organizations, but I’m going to go ahead and take credit for this.

You’re welcome, guys!
