I got one of those too. I called the customer service to get another path home because of disturbances, and they just have robot answering. The robot started halfway through the call just reading pure json at me, and then said "to get this information as a message press 1" or something. This is what I got:

I tripped over a cord once and broke the screen on my laptop. I salvaged the disk for another purpuse. But I got some prime hardware here, it's got video output, it's got ram, and a cpu! I used it for my lectures; liveusb with some persistent storage on, put my slides on there and fire it up. Did not have to unplug the normal laptop from my office. Nothing magic really, but some students were puzzled.

I mean... That is not really what was puzzling about mercury. Its elliptical orbit, as predicted by Newtonian physics, was shifting a little each orbit. It was not a trick of the light bending, it actually moves "wrong" according to newtonian physics. He could have just read wikipedia instead of making stuff up to try and sound smart. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tests_of_general_relativity

Saw a guy in italy almost ram a cop car atan intersection. I think the driver was running a red light, but could have been the cop running a red. Anyhow, the driver breaks just before the cop car, and the cop on the passanger side just gesticulates his discontent but they just keep rolling on anyway. They could not be bothered.

I Sweden a liberal lobby group suggested "build apartments without kitchens" for poor people. It is so fucking dystopian.

Where is Linux?! Surely it must be on the top, I be reading (manuals), "foregin" language (bash), writing (scripts). Right?

Earth's surface is 71% water, otherwise this seems to assume some flooded hollow earth conspiracy theory too.

Adam Smith: if you make a profit, others will see it and start a company that will take part of that profit by competing, and so on and so on, util all companies are perfectly streamlined to satisfy demand efficiently.

Neoliberals: so what you are saying is we should avoid competing at all cost? Sure! No efficency! Only profits!

Hi,

I'm looking for some way to send my own alerts via e-mail in some way. Whenever I try to search for this, most docker images have a much grander goal, and I have a hard time understanding how to use them for my purpose.

What would I want? It'd be nice to have a docker running some smpt-server (I suppose), so that I can make my own python script that scrapes a website, looks at some metric, and e-mails me whenever whatever I'm looking for is found. I only want it to be available on and to receive mails from localhost, no dns, just forward e-mails to my personal one, no web-interface, etc.

I'm quite new to self-hosting, but I hope you still understand what I'm looking for. Is it possible? Should I look for another solution? Will this not work? Any help/input very much welcome.

Don't forget that sometimes you also do work for that journal, telling them if a paper is good enough or not for them, and also basically don't get payed.
