Yesterday, a discussion about race results in thread titles became quite heated, so I decided to lock the thread.

Personally, spoilers don’t bother me. If I can't watch a race live, I stay off my phone entirely until I’ve caught up. Since results are everywhere: TV, radio, and all over social media, avoiding them is usually up to the individual.

The current spoiler rule was originally implemented by three moderators (myself included) as the community grew. However, I am now the only active mod left, and I don't want to be the sole person deciding whether to change this policy. Even if we change the rule, there's always a chance someone will post a result in their excitement, and I won't always be available to remove it immediately.

I’ve created a poll to let the community decide. It will remain open until this Thursday:

https://strawpoll.com/bVg8BLRQ3yY

PS: I understand that disagreements can get intense, but please keep the conversation respectful. There’s enough negativity in the world already, let's keep this community a positive place.

Edit: the results are in!

Rule number 3 will not be adjusted. Thanks for voting everyone!

This weekend, the first 3 rounds of the 2026 F1 Sim Racing World Championship took place.

Round 1 - China: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cZ3t7AXC_8

Round 2 - Japan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ue9y2GU9gpk

Round 3 - Bahrain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLgHzonrho4

Not sure if there is interest in the "sim" side of F1, but i found it quite nice to watch so far.

Formula 1 heralded a new era as a number of teams took to the track for day one of the Barcelona Shakedown, putting their new-look 2026 challengers to the test.

In a change from last season, all 11 teams have been offered the chance to gather crucial data in both Barcelona and Bahrain, with the Spanish circuit hosting a five-day shakedown. Each squad can only test for three of those days and some – including McLaren – have opted to wait until later in the week, while Williams will miss out entirely.

As the battle to maximise the performance of the smaller, lighter cars heats up, those who chose to venture out on day one clocked their first laps of the season at the Circuit de celona-Catalunya.

Hey people!

For the past 3 seasons i mostly have been taking care of the F1 weekend discussion threads (Practice, Quali, Race, Post race) which have been pretty fun!

Halfway last season it started to feel like a chore and after the season ended i needed time to think if i want to continue doing this for season 2026.

I would like to ask if there are people here that would like to help with making these threads and helping with moderating this channel since i am currently the only active moderator.

I know Red Bull is cutthroat with these kind of situations but I feel it’s too soon and just downright traumatic for Lawson. That said, very stoked to see Yuki finally in the Red Bull and starting at the Japanese GP. Really curious how this will play out.

This douche needs to go asap

Still cannot figure out why Stroll thought it was a good idea to drive through the gravel getting beached after he crashed, he could have made a 180 and stay on the tarmac.

[-] wes@lemmy.world 23 points 2 years ago

Stroll needs a good hard look in the mirror, doubling down on his innocence is just delusional and appalling.

Incredible job he did, I mean a mistake is easily made as you could tell by Stroll / Ricciardo but he kept his cool. In the end he seemed to be a tad worried about Norris and Hamilton but he was managed well from the pit wall.

Really curious where he'll drive next season, such a good drive today.

Thanks everyone for participating or lurking in our sub this season :)

Apologies for the late post!

Ocon just mentioned he threw up twice during the race due to the hotness

[-] wes@lemmy.world 23 points 2 years ago

I wonder if his dad started to put pressure on him / his seat that made him act like that today with his personal trainer and interview.

[-] wes@lemmy.world 22 points 2 years ago

Even though it’s all pretty close I think Perez should have been higher up. Lawson’s result is impressive.
