The US vetoed a UN resolution on Wednesday demanding an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza. The other 14 members of the UN Security Council voted in favor of the resolution. The resolution, the most recent of many Gaza ceasefire resolutions to reach the Security Council, called for “an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire” and “the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.” However, the US stated its opposition to the “unconditional ceasefire” which “failed to release the hostages.”

Central Group is a multinational conglomerate in Thailand that describes itself as one of the largest private commercial conglomerates in Thailand with more than 50 subsidiaries and six key business lines. In October 2021, DataBreaches reported an attack on the Central Restaurant Group by threat actors called DESORDEN. When negotiations failed, DESORDEN revealed details about the scope of the attack. Now, it seems another threat actor has obtained data from another Central Group subsidiary.

Enhanced protection status gives heritage sites "high-level immunity from military attacks", according to UNESCO. "Criminal prosecutions and sanctions, conducted by the competent authorities, may apply in cases where individuals do not respect the enhanced protection granted to a cultural property," it said.

Any measure will just get vetoed by the US, the most "competent authority" when it comes to being Israel's bitch.

The only way to stop destruction of heritage sites is to stop the genocide and war crimes. Because as long as they are unpunished for crimes against humanity, preservation of culture is a mere after fought.

Trump campaign said video using Nazi-era language was posted by staffer who didn’t see wording, yet it stayed up for 15 hours

Everyone knows Trump makes all his posts himself and not staffers. He's a true fascist.

Blame gamers for embracing every single greedy move and asking for more. If you shout how fucked up this is and still open your wallet, you are the problem.

In 2020 Google claimed it was supposed to be limited to a single region in partnership with a single carrier. And was never meant to be put up on Play Store.

A spokesperson from Google reached out to clarify some details about the Device Lock Controller app. To start with, Google says they launched this app in collaboration with a Kenyan carrier called Safaricom.

Google has confirmed that the Device Lock Controller app should not be listed on the Google Play Store for users in the U.S., and they will work to take down the listing.

Of course, it was a lie since it's still on Play Store an of today and in use.

This story perfectly highlights US hypocrisy.

But soon after the St Louis-based troop announced their plans, they received a fierce response from their parent chapter, Girl Scouts of eastern Missouri. The message was clear: Girl Scouts did not participate in political and partisan activities.

The response was surprising to Abuhamdeh, who recalled other Girl Scout troops organizing to help families in Ukraine after Russia invaded in February 2022. According to the Girl Scouts website, a troop in Westlake, Ohio collected medical supplies and pack first-aid kits to be distributed in Ukraine, and “also exchanged small gifts like friendship bracelets and cookies”.

His policies on economy are responsible for billionaire class existing in the US. There is a good read on America only had a handful of billionaires 40 years ago. We’re now creating ‘centibillionaires’–and unless we tax them, trillionaires.

But I also feel that any random kid shouldn’t be able to just go to these sites and see porn freely.

So they will just go to another site that doesn't have age verification and doesn't implement any security measures instead. Big sites are required to age check people before they are allowed to upload anything, that is not the case for most of the internet.

All age verification does is aggregate personal information and make it easy target for bad actors to steal. Instead of needing to go thought 100 sites, now that information & identities will be tied to a single database.

It's also a slippery slope, since the same adult content is available not just on dedicated adult sites, but mainstream social media. Lemmy, Mastodon, Twitter, TikTok, Twitch (just recently wanted to allow nudity). Do you really want to have your identity tied to your online activity?

Important context missing from the EFF article is that the Mastodon instance wasn't the target of the raid according to the admins.

In mid-May 2023, the home of one of Kolektiva.social's admins was raided, and all their electronics were seized by the FBI. The raid was part of an investigation into a local protest. Kolektiva was neither a subject nor target of this investigation. Today, that admin was charged in relation to their alleged participation in this protest.

All of them are built on venture capital and borrowing money used to be "free" so investors were fine with borrowing with 0% interest and spending them on all the shiny tech projects. Now with interest rate being 5.25% they all of them all demanding return on their investment and companies that never in their lifetime were profitable are forced to come up with a way to make that money.
