Lemmings sure do have as much of an issue or more with the upvote/downvote system.
Its used really poorly and more of just a litmas test for same think.

Truly the title of lemming is appropriate, doubly so since people will likely quote the myth of it here thinking it makes them somehow not a victim of lemming behaviour as used colloquially.

I mean as someone that studied theoretical physics... Yeah basically.

We set up a bunch of math we expect to happen given the circumstances and then observe an incident that matches the conditions to see if it matched. It's fun when it does and concerns people when it doesn't but we have just reverse engineered the parts we can see and guess on the parts we can't.

I'm leaning in more to this is all a simulation and we have discovered the physics engine by trial and error but the hard coded rules behind it are as understandable to us as it would be to Mario

The interesting answer by the way is that there is a glut of them as Roblox, is actually a game mostly about making other games.

Its a more realized version of VR chat essentially for kids and alpha and Z is full of game devs who though are unfortunately in a single engine but with skill can actually transition to others and often do.

Some real talent is being cultivated but they are mostly unseen by looking at the places they aren't.

Yeah, oh no a bunch of people got into an industry that they loved so much they got underpaid and lowered the value of their labour to be treated worse.
But then a bunch of them realized they could just use their passion to make something themself and get paid for it and now we are having a hard time justifying why the big industry's "shovels" are special.

It is a shame this happening to lots of industries right now for lots of other reasons too. With the big industry now trying to justify it as being cheaper to make because they automated all the people that make the product especially better.

This is from the same RocketJump of Freddie Wong YouTube fame and will be having apparently a very limited (as of now) one day running theaters on March 7th.

I think it looks so interesting. I love me some indie sci-fi films.

A bunch of rich people were scared. Now we are about to see a bunch of theater to make them all feel safe and good about treating the peasants poorly. Mark my words.

The amount of people who are all giving "reasons" why they are gonna be ok to treat others with contempt and apathy towards any suffering just means you wanted an excuse to not care all along, not that you are morally superior.

You will still look like an asshole to anyone that isn't informed and to the people who didn't agree with you in the first place.

If you actually care you keep trying, stop pretending minute crusades are anything but.

These have to be the least accurate things I have ever seen.

The rectangular one is accurate or accurate enough and has been what I used but I noticed files all had cutouts for these round hygrometers...

Well from my 6 pack 1 is within a margin of error to even be useful.

I get they aren't expensive but seems like a waste of money for this bad.

Which is to say, not very far on this at all but I think I have a good idea on how have my cake and eat it too for desiccant for my spools.

I am finding I can't get the humidity below about 50% in my AMS and the silica I am using needs constant refreshing.

Well it seems there is stuff called activated alumina that is pretty good and honestly about the same costs as silica beads, but I need to be able to put it in the oven to refresh it. Which doesn't work well with my 3d printed desiccant holders.

Insert, cheap tea strainers.
It seems I can get ones that are 4cm in width by 6cm in height that are made out of stainless steel that I can actually put straight in the oven.

So, I am working on getting the parts and items but was wondering if anyone else has done this or have any suggestions before I start grabbing stuff?

So, I'm trying to print some older models from thingiverse and I have discovered that basically all the files I want to print have glaring flaws in them.

Internal free floating structures, connector pieces and holes that are the exact same size... So on and so forth...

Do I need to learn a software like CAD or Blender to fix these? I seem to be able to do some basic stuff in Orca Slicer but it honestly seems like as much of a pain to modify the parts there as it would be to use a real software.

Is there one that's easier? I think I messed around with SketchUp once upon a time.

I am worried this feels like opening a can of worms just so that I can make a thing that already exists in a dozen forms better.

Kamala Harris was seen by many as simply continuity Joe Biden, a president who has long had a negative approval rating. When asked last month what she would have done differently from Biden, Harris answered: “There is not a thing that comes to mind in terms of – and I’ve been a part of most of the decisions that have had impact.”

There was no clear vision, no shared rage with the American people at the state of the country: if there was anything deeply wrong with the US, her campaign seemed to suggest, it was the existence of the Trumpist movement, and voting for Harris could finally turn the page on that.

The part that the Democrats missed again and again is that the issue with America is not just that people were and are willing to vote for Trump. It was never gonna be over just because he wasn't elected. Despite that being the message from large amounts of DNC leaders and commentators.

We can blame voters all we want but at millions of people that becomes a concept more than a specific person or group to blame. There are problems that need to be solved with more than status quo and centrism. And it doesn't start and end with Trump.

I hope we remember that as we see more of him than ever.

Truly a pretty terrible place for any kind of social activity.

People here are super self righteous and unwavering in their beliefs, quick to insult others and be generally bitchy, pedantic and quick to dogpile. Worst of all while still usually slightly wrong about a thing, but unwilling to hear it.

It's basically the worst parts of reddit users where we have boiled it down to the most affluent or socially insecure.

Even if it's as simple as a question people jump to defend their position with insults rather than answer it cause they get worried the person might be confused and it's best to just make sure it's a closed community as quick as possible.

This isn't an open community it's a private gated one where everyone jumped the fence and is scared that the wrong person might have come in with them.

Condescending is not welcoming.
Upvoting cause they are your in group isn't community.
Berating outcasts cause you at least don't feel like them is still bullying.

Oh man, every Palestinian had an ID number? Man those could have just been tattooed on every person to make sure Israel could keep track of them better.

No idea why Israel didn't think of that. Seems obvious to use in your fenced in area that everyone has to be carefully released from for either work or because they died.

And, well, Boeing made the capsule.

The Internet as a whole seems a lot less interested in actually listening to anyone with credentials to back themselves up (Musk obviously included).
Literally, people will just "nuh-uh" a piece of fact for purely emotional personal reasons.

Maybe it's that we made the Internet so full of disinformation that everyone is just automatically refusing to listen to others, maybe we have created a social group that just assumes they are more educated than everyone else cause they read some stuff in the internet.

Maybe all the smarter people with credentials have done the smart thing and left the internet, cause if I hear one more person tell me I'm wrong and that people totally explode in the vacuum of space cause they watched a movie. (Someone even called me confidently incorrect after I provided the research paper I cited when working on decompression in a vacuum), I honestly will think humanity has no right to claim themselves master of any part of nature and I will praise the universe for wiping us out hopefully Armageddon style, with an asteroid with a bunch of oil drillers on it.

Hmm... There was a comic about women and serial killers that got me started thinking about this but...

Do you think both genders are being sold on extremes of the other that might be skewing our ability to interact rationally?

Like women being sold extremes of men abusiveness and cults and rapists and men on stingy or "slutty" women. And now both genders are spending less time with each other and more with internalized extreme versions of each other?

It's like maybe a symptom of a lack of social spaces or maybe just leads to less of them as people only feel comfortable in closed groups. I'm thinking we are all being taken for a ride.
Or people are way worse than I can consider.

[-] Krauerking@lemy.lol 106 points 1 year ago

It's the oldest profession for a reason. Everyone is selling their body just one gender can do it more directly more easily and with the Internet doesn't even have to do it with people interacting with their physical body anymore.

When times are rough, some fucker will still be horny.
