When using spoiler tags, if you add bold/italic formatting to the title, the title is hidden as part of the spoiler in Jerboa, instead of being rendered as a title with bold/italics.

Regular spoilerRegular spoiler

Bold TitleBold title

Italic TitleItalic title

The example that brought me here:

https://lemmy.ca/comment/21351153

Cross posted, because it seems Boost suffers from the same problem: not rendering bold/italic spoiler titles correctly.

Boost however renders the Bold/Italics and ignores the spoiler tags, while Jerboa just hides the bold/italic title within the spoiler, displaying no title at all.

When viewing tables that are hidden behind the 3 colon spoiler tag, they are not displayed as a table and instead displayed as plain text.

No AVIF support? (lemmy.zip)

When I asked the admin of lemmy.zip about images no longer loading in the Boost app but everything loading when I switch to my account on a different instance, the admin speculated that it's Lemmy.zip's move to convert all images to Avif. The theory makes sense, considering the move is recent and Boost had no problem displaying images from the server earlier. As such, I'm requesting Avif support in the app!

I actually didn't even realize that piefed was supported, but I see some of you posting on here are on those instances.

I've been curious to try piefed, but haven't felt like switching app yet so just curious.

Tapping and holding an image in a comment sometimes brings up a share menu where you can copy the image link, etc. and sometimes it just collapses the comment. From doing some testing, I have found that whenever the image has alt text in the markdown is when it just collapses. So...

...an image in a comment written this way will bring up a share menu if tapped and held:

![](https://site.tld/image.png)

However, an image written this way will just collapse the comment:

![a really cool image](https://site.tld/image.png)

See up- and downvoters? (sh.itjust.works)

Is it possible to see who upvoted and downvoted a post or comment in Boost? Its a possibility on Lemmy, but there doesn't seem to be a function for it on Boost.

It seems that hyphens within instance links aren't recognized in Boost. For example, !Silksong@indie-ver.se is not accessible, as it is read as !Silksong@indie.

I'm afraid that I can't confirm it myself, as I don't use Boost, but a user here says that Boost apparently can't handle Threadiverse bang links where the hostname has hyphens in it.

He was attempting to follow !Silksong@indie-ver.se

Just wanted to get a heads-up to the Boost developers.

Thanks for your time!

Please see this screenshot:

As you can see, the floating button is partially hidden. Scrolling does not fix the issue. Nor restarting the app.

EDIT: just found out that the issue only happens when viewing posts. If I open a post, the floating button is fully shown. That is, when viewing comments, the button is shown correctly.

This has been annoying behavior for a while. When I click any post from the widget it brings up my previously viewed post. I then have to click back and go back to my home screen and click the article a 2nd time to get to the post.

Note: Clicking the home button doesn't help. The important piece is that I have to click back. It seems like the widget click on an article only works if the app state isn't in a specific article already.

The app in the screenshot is URLCheck, it is my "default browser" and allows me to see where a link is going and edit it or choose what to open it in.

It's showing that the ! link I tapped on the bottom of the screen got an "https:/" (one slash) put in front of it instead of being treated as a proper link to a community.

The same thing happens with @ links:

A screenshot showing that a user-link from a post summary ended up with part of a protocol prepended to it

In settings there is a menu option under storage that has the description text "Change download location" but clicking it just gives the toggle for separate folders per community.

Have I missed the spot to change where photos download to? I don't want them landing in my pictures folder on Android.

Happy New Year, friends.

Was using Boost recently (Android, sh.itjust.works) clicking the thumbnail of a post that looked like an image of video.

Next I saw (a version of) my phone's downloads folder, where the .mov video had saved.

I was a little freaked that clicking a post thumbnail caused a file to immediately get downloaded and saved on my device - no prompt or otherwise.

The post: https://sh.itjust.works/post/52568758

Can I ask if this is intentional? Or a bug with Boost? Post was setup incorrectly? Or maybe the post's target doesn't 'stream' .mov videos as-such; just sends them to be saved. But still no prompt.

Zooming cuts off part of the bottom of pictures, and the limit on zooming in is very small. Are there any plans to update the zoom functionality? Zooming on vids and gifs would also be a plus.

It doesn't seem to be related to particular file types or instance, and the images load fine when using the web interface. I think it might have happened after last update?

Missing comments (piefed.social)

I noticed not all comments are visible in the app. Sometimes not even my own. E.g. I'll see a post with reported 40 comments, but when I open it, only 5 are visible. Oftentimes when I reply to a post, I don't see my own comment. I don't have this issues in my instance in browser and another Piefed/Lemmy Android client, so it's definitely a Boost bug. Not sure how to help troubleshoot it.

The baby chick icon is helpful to show new users, but I have noticed an annoying pattern of behavior. Some new users will create new communities and then post repeatedly to the new community to try and get it going. I would like to be able to hide posts from new users to avoid this issue.

A great feature would be to be able to like by double tapping.

I get the same error as what's described here. Do we have any ideas?

I just had a thought (*fuckup), ProgrammingHumor exists on multiple instances. I was wondering if it is possible as some part of multi-community scroll feature would it be possible to automatically fetch from the same community on as many instances as are known?

Boost for Lemmy looks so professional and polished I kinda wish it was more of an aggregation software.

Maybe in Boost for Lemmy Pro?

AVIF Support (lemmy.world)

lemmy.zip has started staring images in the AVIF format, and boost can't display them properly. Any timeline for support being added?

Neverending scroll? (lemmy.world)
submitted 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) by pdxfed@lemmy.world to c/boostforlemmy@lemmy.world

App used to automatically load posts from what I recall but no longer seems to even under "all" categories so it's certainly not a "tiny communities/no new posts” thing. If I scroll back to the top of "all" and drag down to refresh, new content loads

Boost/Lemmy/android/pixel8a but seems like a server issues unless I've missed a setting somewhere?

Boost 1.0.28
Android 14

Images in cards seem to work fine, but when clicked to open in fullscreen it loads with a black screen and just stays black.

Has anyone encountered such behaviour?

EDIT:
I don't seem to be able to open images in external browser, it always opens in apps internal browser. I do have external browser selected as default.
I do suspect that it's the lemmy.zip image proxy quirk. The app seems to read that as a lemmy link despite me selecting external browser for the image.
