i cant get brave to do hardware accelartion on ubuntu. its making youtube videos at 1080 60fps drop frames.

anyone knows how to fix it?

it was fine. on ubuntu its mostly sudo apt install appname so i got used to it. but if i can't find an app i search for it and see the instructions there

i switched(dualbooted) few days ago and its been great.

i got nvidia drivers to work pretty easily with ubuntu handling it for me

brave feels faster on ubuntu than windows 11,i got all my pirated games to work with Faugus Launcher.

i got mcontrolcenter as replacement to msi dragon center and it works good.

i got mongohud(or whatever its named) to work in games so i can see the fps.

i customized my grub look and made it look better.

and i overall love how ubuntu feels and looks, and im comfortable with it. i will stay with linux.

edit:

i had some issues with it but they were easily solved after i searched and used ai for help. like mcontrolcenter needing to have some lines edited then recompiled and installed. stuff like that. im also trying to figure out why 60fps videos on yt framedrop to solve it. it did on windows until i made the whole browser run using gpu. so im sure i will find a way to solve it. any tips welcome

i have a few questions (programming.dev)
submitted 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) by steam@programming.dev to c/linux@lemmy.ml

1: what should i replace the hp printer app,wd drive app,msi dragon center(useful for making fans go faster) with? laptop is msi gf63 thin10sc i plan on using ubuntu.

2: does linux have backwards compatiblity ? like can i take an old app file put it on usb then open it on another linux computer? this is important to me as i like to hoard data like apps and games.

3: can i install apps the windows way? im totally fine with using a package manager. i just mean can i do that?

4: how can i run pirated games and apps on linux? i don't want to use steam really.

5 can i have country emojis in ubuntu? or hevc codec and other codecs for free? im aware of vlc,but sometimes you need the codec itself on the system to edit or reencode some videos.

6: can i install and use windows games offline?(after i setup wine or its gui manager and install all visuall c++ things) or not?

7: can i run apps or install them offline? like windows? and hoard those files like .exes on windows? and then take those files to more upgraded linux version or another distro or even another linux pc and run them offline?

8: can wine run .bat files? im intrested in this to see if it will run cod cold war from fitgirl fine or not.

i typed a lot of questions about hoarding, sorry if these questions are stupid. i just like hoarding. if i have other questions i will make another post. thanks

i don't like reading books. such as 1984,and some other books. i really don't. but i enjoy reading in general,i read reddit posts and tech forums for hours. i read ai chat for hours,as i engage with it and set the tone.

i want serious replies. not insults. thanks

[-] steam@programming.dev 3 points 4 days ago

why do you think firefox is better? i generally don't care about a corp Politics or historical errors. i care about current product as of now.

[-] steam@programming.dev 3 points 4 days ago

should i switch to linux? (programming.dev)
submitted 4 days ago by steam@programming.dev to c/linux@lemmy.ml

i like gaming, browsing(brave),im open to using open source software like gimp, libreoffice, qbittorrent etc i don't really care about specific software other than brave.

i don't use steam,i use pirated games so they should work on whatever distro i will use.

i have no problems with learning more, searching,or posting about linux to learn. and im open to using terminal i already like it somewhat on windows.

my laptop that i will install linux on is msi gf63 with gtx 1650,i5-10500h,16gb ram,1tb ssd sata and 256gb ssd nvme.

so should i switch to linux? i feel like i don't exactly like where microsoft is taking windows to,but im not sure if my games will work on linux.

you can ask me more questions to see if my usage is supported or not by linux. im open to any easy distro. i don't relay on microsoft office or adobe apps or any of these things. my usage is pretty generic.

im personally excited for it.

i personally think yes but it will take some years to fix the problem of most apps not working there.

what do you think?
