He had the rare treatable pancreatic cancer, and he didn't treat it because he didn't believe in modern medicine.

I still remember fondly when elementary was relevant. It's been a while.

They get completely disabled if you pay, that's the point. I haven't got a single tracking ping on my PiHole, I bought adfree.

It kinda bothers me to have an iOS UI on my Android phone lol.

Brother printers are still very decent and most importantly, not DRM ridden.

Also, Sync is one dev working full time by himself, not a big corp.

It's quite polished, mainly that. Even for a beta, there's almost no bugs, it respects Android Material You specs including animations, and it's highly customizable, allowing advanced filtering for example. It also adds very nice QoL features like automatically removing AMP links for full links.
Value is subjective, I personally consider it worthy of my money.

LJ, the dev of Sync, makes a living off it. It's not a side project like most Lemmy apps are for their devs. This means that yes, it's monetized, but also, it's one of the most polished and frequently updated apps.

Value is subjective, but I do consider worth it to fund LJ's work on the app.
He has been working on Sync for years full time, which is why Sync was/is one of the most polished and frequently updated apps out there. If there's a small price to pay for it, so be it, the guy has to eat.

The lifetime purchase to remove ads is up. It's a bit pricey but I can understand why, Lemmy has a smaller userbase. Totally worth it.

They also went to the deep end trying to make profits. Discord has a bloated interface and tries to shove their subscription up your face every chance they can.
