Is it weird with your cold water? Looking into it, it seems like it fills up your come water pipe with warm water. Wondering if that affects drinking water coming from your refrigerator or anything like that.

I didn't know that was a thing! I've been thinking of that exact same thing for years, wondering if it was even technically feasible and wondering why it wasn't a standard in new home construction. I can't imagine how much water is wasted by people just waiting for their showers to heat up.

Then again, my local water company recycles waste water from people's homes. So maybe requiring it isn't necessary with modern water recycling programs.

I really wish this article had more information, but the way it's written is very vague and potentially rage-baiting. The only fact stated about the incident is:

Students at Clack Middle School were allegedly told by a staff member that they would begin tracking menstrual cycles for female students.

The word "they" in that sentence is unacceptably vague for a news article. Who is "they"? Is it the school and/or staff members? Because that's justifiably bullshit and rage worthy.

Or does "they" mean the individual student? If a health teacher is teaching students how to use a period tracker, then that's an entirely different story.

All in all, this is pretty lazy reporting that makes me think of how Fox News and its imitators get away with riling people up by completely misinterpreting a situation. With that being said, maybe this is a genuine case of a school doing something abhorrent. In which case, the journalist needs to do a better job providing the details rather than just one vague statement.

The statement said the woman was an “ardent” Trump supporter who had wanted to vote for him before she died.

What's so fucked up about the MAGA news bubble is that they push these false stories of Democratic voter fraud, so their own supporters think that cheating is ok because everyone is doing it. Then these chucklefucks find out the hard way that election fraud - contrary to what Fox News has told them - is taken seriously and has very serious consequences.

The article mentions that they said the initial spill was 12 gallons but then mixed with water in the drain, which is where the 550 gallon number comes from. That's coming from Tesla, so it might be them trying to downplay the incident, so take it with a grain of salt. But it does seem to make more sense than a single computer needing 550 gallons of coolant.

Rep. Ted Lieu, a Democrat from California, in his own tweet on the news wrote, “The first step towards fascism is when the free press cowers in fear.”

I don't know if this is the free press cowering, or the free press being bought out by rich people. Either way, it's some bullshit.

When my grandma was in her 80s, she took a call like this. She was talking for a good 5 minutes saying things like "oooh no, you're from Microsoft?" and "my computer has been compromised?"

The whole time, she was smiling and winking at me then says, "Well hang on just a second, let me hand the phone to my grandson. He's a police officer and can help us get this sorted out." Then she immediately handed me the phone, where I didn't miss a beat and said "This is officer Dan with the Aurora Police Department, who am I speaking to?" and they hung up instantly.

Don't fuck with old ladies.

Cross posting this from https://sh.itjust.works/post/25548740

There's an issue with posts not showing as read on newer instances of Lemmy.

16

I've been using Sync for Lemmy for a year or so, but very recently (within the last day or so) links have stopped showing as read when I click on them and then go back. I tested this with a lemmy.world account and don't have the same problem.

I saw a post saying sh.itjust.works was updating to Lemmy v19.5 a few days ago. I'm wondering if maybe it caused a problem or if it's just me having this issue.

Thanks

Americans are overwhelmingly in favor of reforming the Supreme Court along lines proposed by President Joe Biden, even as approval for the high court is marked by a sharp political divide, according to a new USA TODAY-Ipsos election year poll.

A large majority – 76% of Americans – support a binding code of conduct for the Supreme Court, according to the poll.
