How the heck am I to tell the lifespan of a bird by looking at it?

Hey all, just got a Geforce 5070 to replace my 2070 from years ago. Ubuntu's been pretty smooth sailing for me until now, and I'm not exactly the best at navigating this stuff.

When Ubuntu starts to boot, the GPU stops outputting display to my monitor. As though it doesn't detect the new GPU. I tried putting the 2070 back in and downloading the 570 drivers but it didn't change anything. I found a tutorial for what seemed to be my issue that asked me to change the kernel, but halfway through the tutorial, commands that worked on their machine started failing on mine. I wish I'd documented what the error messages were because when I went to poke around more today, I got a message about kernel panic and can't even boot with the 2070. Where do I go from here?

SOLUTION: Went back and got an AMD GPU. Worked out of the box. Thanks to all who helped. Would have kept trying but I only have so much time for troubleshooting right now.

Hey all, I'm stumped for the first time since adopting Linux. I can't get Plex to see any of my folders and I cannot just move my movies to plexmediaserver because I don't have the permissions.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the permissions commands and I'm not sure what the simplest way to set up my Plex library is. Has anyone been through this process that can help me out?

It's because they roll up into a cute little ball and it tickles us in a way nothing else does

Was there really not a shorter title than Day of Persons With Disabilities?

Aside from being contacted by a family member or maybe some sort of contact information being left in a will, how do you discover if someone you know has died?

Another less serious thing: backing up the "girls don't need muscle hunks" with pictures of a bunch of famous actors, several of which are definitely jacked, is not proving the point you want it to.

I don't even care that much about the band stuff. I liked his movies when he was little, and when he started a gaming channel I realized I now find him very annoying. He comes across as full of himself and desperate for attention.

I know it's a meme but can somebody set me straight? I swear I read somewhere that this narrative started with the research community saying, essentially, "we know a number of ways in which they might have achieved this feat but we aren't sure which one they used," but the entertainment/conspiracy communities heard "there is no explanation for how these people were able to achieve this feat."

That's just not how sustainable charity or development works, especially when it comes to things like building wells. There are existing charities that can do more than he does with the money he spends and have sustainable methods of doing so. Maybe some of them aren't great, but if he actually wanted to address those issues he could set up a foundation with people who know how to do that work.

Is everybody just phoning it in for a boss that just needs you to do busy work?

Terry Pratchett! The Discworld books have kept me busy for years now and I don't even consider myself much of a reader.
