I've never followed Joe Rogan, so I'm a bit ignorant here. Didn't he used to be really popular? What changed, did he become right wing or get really into conspiracies or something?

Obvious examples are countries like Russia, China, North Korea, etc. Russia specifically passed laws banning misinformation in 2020, and later fined google millions of dollars over it.

Yeah, games like DRG prove that season xp/unlocks can be fun and rewarding. But the key there is that:

  • It's completely free
  • You can replay old seasons anytime, so there's no cosmetics that you miss out on if you don't finish by the end of the season

Done like that, it's a fun system that gives you extra rewards for playing. But there's never any punishment for not playing enough in a fixed period of time.

That link was just specifying that there was a difference between adaptive charging on the pixel 4, and later pixels. All pixel phones from 4 onwards have it, but I'm guessing it's a pixel software specific feature.

I have a pixel phone, and it may be a pixel specific feature rather than a default android feature.

Here's Google's webpage on it.

The slower the better for battery health.

Usually slow charging is just the standard USB 2.0 output, which is 5v 0.5A (so 2.5 watts). That was all the USB standard officially supported for a long time, but many devices and chargers actually supported up to 5v 1A (5 watt) or 5v 2A (10 watt) charging. Those would usually be considered normal charging.

Fast charging has a couple different specs and voltages, but can go up much higher. My steam deck supports 45w charging, and some laptops support 65w or higher.

Slow charging is actually better for battery longevity than fast charging. For example, my phone will limit it's charging speed at night when I have an alarm set, because it assumes I won't need it until my alarm goes off, and the slower it charges the less damage is done to a battery.

In general, lithium batteries are damaged by heat. Rapid charging creates extra heat, so it's worse for the battery. Manufacturers work hard to minimize the damage of quick charging, but it's still somewhat better to slow charge when you have the time.

This is different from Bazzite and some of the other SteamOS similar operating systems by being as close to vanilla SteamOS as possible.

According to the devs:

It's a SteamOS based distribution that is intended to be as close to 1:1 compatible with upstream SteamOS as possible while making changes to support a wider range of hardware. It originated as a fork of HoloISO but it has been majorly overhauled to eliminate things like post-copy operations (as much as possible), introduce our own signed package repositories, add an automated release process, and provide many bug fixes and refinements. The focus has largely been on handheld gaming consoles, but it's in use on a variety of AMD based mini PCs as well.

This is debatable if it belongs here, but since these will be running Bazzite they're basically emulation focused Steam Machines. I think these have enough overlap with the Deck to be worth discussing here.

For those who don't know:

  • Emudeck provides a series of tools to make setting up emulation on the Steam Deck easy. Includes installing emulators, setting up control schemes, installing CRT shaders, and adding emulated titles to Steam so that you can run them like native steam games.

  • Bazzite is a SteamOS alternative. Biggest difference is that it's based on Fedora linux instead of Arch linux. Otherwise it provides a similar experience to SteamOS, with a steam based game mode, decky extension support, and many other similarities. It's main advantages are that it works on non-Deck hardware, supports permanently installing non-flatpak linux software, and lets you use different linux desktops besides KDE.

If steam did allow transfers this way, I can imagine it being a new type scam where people fabricate death documents to steal steam accounts.

Some people are saying this is good, but Microsoft recently changed my default search engine to bing "In case it was accidentally changed or changed by another program". I have zero faith they won't abuse this, they are becoming ever increasingly pushy about using edge and switching to bing.
