They don't know what imperialism is, not their fault

[-] Dengalicious@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 2 months ago

I avoid using words and terms that I don’t know what they mean

[-] jaxxed@lemmy.ml -3 points 2 months ago

Oh no, they used a word in a way I didn't like - I guess their opinion about personal freedom and representation are completely invalid.

Ad Hominem much?

Chinese people deserve the freedom to express their political views.

Yes, Chinese people deserve freedom to express their political view. And they can do such in the democratic centralism state. Research by Western institutes (in the US for example) shows that the 95% of the people are satisfied with the government

If you want to learn more about China and unlearn a few misconceptions and propaganda we've all been subjected to, this wiki sums up a lot a things: https://en.prolewiki.org/wiki/People%27s_Republic_of_China

Except the organization in question says that they are shutting down because they can't. 95% of ppl from Hong Kong don't want $emocratic politics?

Why is ad hominem the first thing stupid posters always grab for?

And can't bother to learn what it means?

Saying an argument is stupid isn't ad hominem. Saying the poster is stupid for making a stupid argument isn't either.

Ironic response. Response said that the wrong word was used, but personally point was not addressed.

[-] mattyroses@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 2 months ago

Oh, so you also don't know what ironic means. Enjoy the black fly in your chardonnay.

[-] jaxxed@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 months ago

Black fly in wine. Never heard that before, where does it come from?

Imagine getting downvoted for this.

"Chinese imperialism" is a kinda old thing, it's built a lot too, ya knaw, in a couple millennia

[-] jaxxed@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 months ago

Lots of strong democratic events over the last 50 years though. There is hope still.

[-] adespoton@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 months ago

10 years ahead of schedule.

Democracy is dying everywhere right now. The uprising is going to be bloody and horrible when it eventually happens.

Maybe I'll still be alive to see it. Or maybe aliens will blow us the hell up and solve all our problems.

[-] Pilferjinx@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

I'm skeptical there is going to be any kind of uprising. The media algorithms are getting too good. The surveillance is getting too pervasive. The population is getting less educated.

[-] yet_another_commie@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 2 months ago

"Pro-democracy" party which is actually just a cover for US imperialist propaganda. There's no place for bourgeois ideas in an actual proletarian democracy that Hong Kong is becoming. This city is probably the only lib state that's transitioning to socialism

I'll take absolutely clueless for 300 Alex.
