$ touch girl
$ echo 'nyaa~' > girl
$ cat girl
nyaa~
[-] emax_gomax@lemmy.world 20 points 1 month ago

The touch is redundant. But I get why you did it anyways.

[-] lord_ryvan@ttrpg.network 1 points 1 month ago

This guy gets it!

[-] festnt@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 month ago

[-] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

God, can we not though? Haha funni meme and all, but like, I'm so tired of seeing this shit. It sucks for the women in the community, and honestly it sucks for the men too. It's just such boomer humor.

You're right, we should ask for consent.

sudo chmod -R 777 /

May god have mercy on your kernel.

(For Linux noobs, do not type this. It would be bad.)

[-] umbrella@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 month ago

make sure to remove the french language pack with sudo rm -fr /*

based linux waiting for consent

[-] zqwzzle@lemmy.ca 17 points 1 month ago

unzip;strip;touch;finger;mount;fsck;more;yes;umount;sleep

[-] BuboScandiacus@mander.xyz 6 points 1 month ago

more;yes;umount;sleep

That explains the picture in the post

[-] cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 month ago

spicy ao3 tags

[-] Ziglin@lemmy.world 1 points 4 weeks ago

That would probably not make it past the yes without intervention.

I prefer to man touch πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

[-] hakunawazo@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

From man touch:
"Mandatory arguments to long options are mandatory for short options too."

It's not the size of the boat, it's the motion of the ocean.

alias stopresisting="sudo"
stopresisting !!

[-] toynbee@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Back in my day, this alias would be fucking.

[-] Crazyslinkz@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago
[-] toynbee@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

alias fucking=sudo is what I was referring to in this case.

[-] drkt_@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago

If you want to preface the command, yes, but my alias works after the fact unless blurting out "FUCKING!!" when people tell you no is just part of your quirks I guess :P

[-] toynbee@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Ah, fair enough, I had missed the !! - thanks for drawing my attention to it!

I always hate when my own computer says I need permission. "Permission"? I own your damn ass! It should be more like, "Unable to comply due to security settings" - and even better, tell me where the settings are, and add, "Your Majesty".

[-] VinesNFluff@pawb.social 7 points 1 month ago

Insert that intentionally unhinged thing I like to post here, about how we should bring back victorian servant-to-master etiquette but only and exclusively for computers trying to communicate with humans.

[-] lime@feddit.nu 7 points 1 month ago

you know on the one hand i like the idea, but on the other i would like my computer to be as unantropomorphized as possible so that i don't start treating it like it has feelings.

i'll take ERR 0x2038A702 UNABLE TO COMPLY; LP0 ON FIRE over oh nyo pwease don't SIGKILL me uwu any day.

[-] VinesNFluff@pawb.social 1 points 1 month ago

Since it seems language AIs are going to become inescapable (not a fan, but if you can't beat 'em...), make it a toggle so that users who want to can have error messages with different "personalities", and those who don't can just have the machinelike codes.

[-] amon@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

you forget that UNIX-likes were originally made under the presumption that most users were not the admin nor owned the computer

[-] mexicancartel@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 month ago

That's because 'users' in the system are considered different people and there is an admin who doesn't care about the message anyway(since they are supposed to know what they should do) but thats rarely the case in PCs

[-] ColdWater@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 month ago

Yeah true and this is especially infuriating on Window$ but luckily on Linux I can fix anything with sudo and terminal

Maybe if you didn't make jokes like this and actually treated women like people, you will "get the permission".

[-] Anomalocaris@lemm.ee 6 points 1 month ago

yhea, however

sudo touch woman

[-] entwine413@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago

Fapolicy would like a word.

i actually have a nobody:nobody chowned, =000 chmodded file named grass in my home directory

its easier to explain than and doesn't give as much incel vibes as a file named woman

[-] x00z@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Grass inside your home?

Like a crypto backed patch of grass on your desk?

[-] mrvictory1@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I also touch grass if I need to check if filesystem is read-write

[-] LainTrain@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 month ago

I think in the middle east group they can chown woman, and that is probably coming to the America group in the next patch.

[-] notabot@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago

You'll have permission if you go $HOME.

I'm assuming you have a lovely, caring partner there otherwise that sounds wrong.

Community rules (click to expand)

1. Follow the site-wide rules

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack users for any reason. This includes using blanket terms, like "every user of thing".
  • Don't get baited into back-and-forth insults. We are not animals.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • 3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.
  • No porn, no politics, no trolling or ragebaiting.
  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, <loves/tolerates/hates> systemd, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.

  • The substance of a post should be comprehensible for people who only speak English.
  • Titles and post bodies written in other languages will be allowed, but only as long as the above rule is observed.
  • 6. (NEW!) Regarding public figuresWe all have our opinions, and certain public figures can be divisive. Keep in mind that this is a community for memes and light-hearted fun, not for airing grievances or leveling accusations.

Important: never execute code or follow advice that you don't understand or can't verify, especially here. The word of the day is credibility. This is a meme community -- even the most helpful comments might just be shitposts that can damage your system. Be aware, be smart, don't remove France.
