Four lanes full of street cars is wild.
And even with 4 lanes, they were still... cowcatcher-to-cowcatcher.
Imagine how many people were riding in them!
You heard of dual track drifting, but have you heard of 4-Lane Drive?
They don't dominate like they used to, but we still have vintage streetcars on Market and the Embarcadero
Same fare as other Muni busses and trams.
Also the main part of market st (including what's shown in the photo) is no longer for "civilian" cars - only buses, taxis, emergency, delivery vehicles (AFAIK)
So we're working our way back around to the picture, albeit slowly
I was so excited to see those when I was in the area last year! Unfortunately wasn't able to ride one ๐ but I did get some pictures. We need more streetcars
I'm really bummed I missed this event
a streetcar has a period appropriate jazz group for a free show. And they didn't charge fares either.
Turns out you can also rent the streetcars for events, which is pretty neat
would make for a fun night on the town.

Specifically here
The photographer was about at 1 Kearny Street, which looks like this today: https://maps.app.goo.gl/bvLZekQMLJrPp12Y9
I walk by there at least once a week, there are fewer streetcars (not zero!) but plenty of busses
