The brightest minds of our generation are hard at work in the HBO mines coming up with this kind of innovation
Oh so they decided to listen to literally everyone telling them that was a stupid choice? And that everyone is still calling it HBO and searching for HBO and they were ruining their own search optimization?
Someone in the upper management probably came up with this genius idea after years of pondering and everybody just pretended that they've heard it for the first time.
Did they fire the dumbass who saw HBO's brand marketing value and decided "yeah let's just throw that in the trash"?

I can see both changes making sense. When they wanted to open the floodgates to whatever reality slop gets eyeballs, it made sense to keep the HBO brand free from the slop stigma. But then somebody realized that things have changed forever; there's never going to be a way to profit from "HBO" being limited to the good shows, so let's just re-associate it with the streaming service and draw in a few older people who remember when it was the channel you'd watch for at least 10 seconds before clicking onward because there was a decent chance they were showing something good.

God how I would love it if they spun off all that reality TV slop/unscripted/true crime. or, just let me hide entire genres.
I know a lot of people love that shit, but they do not love it more than I hate being reminded it exists.
I hate reality TV so much and none of it is "reality." It's all scripted. What isn't scripted is edited to change context entirely. I hate all these fucking documentaries, especially ones trying to whitewash Navalny or Sean Penn. Or ones exploiting recent events, like Puff Daddy's arrest. We have no idea what the survivors want, why are you making a documentary about their suffering?
I can't believe we lost Westworld, Lovecraft Country, and Raised by Wolves for this shit.
