Original Title: A Stanford-led study has identified a mutation on the X chromosome that causes orange fur in cats. Unlike other mammals with orange shades – tigers, golden retrievers and red-haired humans – cat orange isn't linked to the usual pigment genes (like MC1R or ASIP).
