The fact that people are still supporting monarchies in 2025 is absolutely goofy. They are outright leaches.

[-] Honytawk@feddit.nl 2 points 1 week ago

I don't support monarchs.

But the UK monarch actually brings in more profit for the country through tourism than it costs to have the monarch.

And if they ever use their theoretical power, there will be an uprising and we will set their palace on fire.

Man just fuck off. Your opinion means nothing to us.

The comments here please me. Glad we all agree this leech needs to fuck off.

Of course the media paint a picture of this being a profoundly meaningful gesture. Get fucked

Putin is a bigger leach on the economy, human lives, and the world itself.

Monarchs > dictators

[-] Flyberius@hexbear.net 1 points 1 week ago

Christ, I don't have the energy for this one... If we're going to play the who's worse game, I see your Putin and raise you US hegemony

Monarch from one country that says it has claim over another country, says that the second country has sovereignty? What?

[-] Honytawk@feddit.nl 0 points 1 week ago

Where did they state they have claim over another country?

They are doing in fact the opposite.

Canada is technically a “Constitutional Monarchy” which means ultimately it’s governed under King Charles the III. That’s the part I’m saying is fucked up. A King from one country (UK) has come to Canada (another country) to remind the US of Canada’s “sovereignty”. The monarchy shouldn’t even exist, let alone have claim over a completely independent country.

Unelected hereditary head of state from halfway around the world visits Canada to "underscore sovereignty" 🤨

TheOnion-ass reality

[-] Honytawk@feddit.nl 1 points 1 week ago

The previous owner is just coming over to state that they don't own it anymore.

Nothing wrong about that.

Charles is the king of Canada, and also a bunch of other places.
