They are already basic computers, only specific OS. And honestly, I have the feeling that big commercial engines support all platforms (the switch even supports vulkan api). And I feel that eventually, exclusive games end up on PC so why bother? On PC, you even have gogs which is DRM free.
Yeah, bought a PS5 around launch (at msrp not at dummy thicc prices thanks to tracker bots) and am happy to have it for around the house, friends over, playing with the wife. But I just recently built my first PC because it felt like a far better long term investment in gaming. About to cancel my ps+ finally, because that's where they get ya on console.
If you aren't signed up with epic yet, they give away free games all the time, and always have several older AAA titles every year. Around the holidays especially, you can get some great games.
It's a good way to build a PC game library fast and free.
Amazon gaming also regularly gives away free games if you have prime.
I'm not, but will look into both. I don't have prime but some family member or other may still and I'll see if I can nab anything while convincing them to cancel it 😂
