I expect this to be a core of something a genuine fan started to create but then has everything that makes it special scooped out via digital melonballer and replaced with shitty microtransactions. Be happy to be surprised but WOTC clearly doesn't give a fuck about the game they just got dazzled by the success of BG3 and now think they are the ones responsible for it
I know he has worked on some popular games, but also know that WotC/Hasbro have been going a bit overboard on being controlling and feel lucky that we got BG3.
To be fair, he navigated Disney / Lucasfilm's grip on the Star Wars franchise pretty adeptly. He was both director and story director on the Star Wars games and both were some of the best star wars media in recent times.
That's good to hear, hopefully that continues.
Notably not being described as an RPG but an action adventure game.
Still, interesting given the studio founder is Stig Asmussen, who directed both the Star Wars Jedi games, God of War 3, and came up through the art department working on previous God of War games.
It'll be interesting to see his level of spectacle brought to a DnD universe.
Who really cares, tho? BG3 was good in spite of dnd, not because of it, and frankly i don't think most developers can make anything good out of that trainwreck of a game.
I don't think wizards of the coast is run by DND fans.
Reads like it is going to be a generic slash 'em up game, but set in the DnD universe? What the fuck does dnd even bring to the table here besides advertising money? Sounds like it's going to be a generic ass fantasy game filled to the brim with the micro-transactions that get Chris Cocks hard in the morning. I am unlikely to give it a second notice upon release.
