There is not enough people on this site to properly achieve its purpose which is to post and discuss content. People would flock to old.lemmy.world if it was advertised. Probably seeing proper migration in a few weeks.

The last thing lemmy needs is more centralisation on lemmy.world

It's undeniable that this UI is superior to all other formats of messages boards

The ui is good, yes, but lemmy.world itself is pretty problematic.

Don't get me wrong, if you use it, its no problem, but its not the place to direct newcomers.

The only thing I have a problem with is it lacks so many small things old reddit has, hard to explain. Fix them and it's perfect.

  1. Show posts and comments separately on a profile.
  2. Seeing comments should require us to click the big children not small + on controversial comments.
  3. Allowed videos to actually be posted.
  4. Show a number on the mail not just a red outline.
  5. But this is pedantic seeing karma totals.

The first 4 would really help

I think you misunderstood, ada was suggesting using a different server than lemmy.world in order to spread out the load better

some examples:

https://discuss.online/

https://sh.itjust.works/

https://lemmy.ca/

https://sopuli.xyz/

https://lemmy.zip/

https://aussie.zone/

They're all still Lemmy, just different access points. If you want the "Old" UI, some have it built in like https://old.lemmy.ca/ and https://old.lemmy.zip/

Why would I want to give Reddit money?

[-] webghost0101@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 months ago

How do you picture this?

As far as i know many people try to advertise Lemmy on reddit but those posts are getting removed.

Are you suggesting we should crowdsource funding for actual ads? It might work to get it to stay and have many people see it but i am conflicted in the sense i believe todays internet advertisement is inherently harmfull and i want no part of it.

Somehow make enough to pay for a legit ad

[-] nokturne213@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 months ago

Feel free to purchase some ads.

Thanks for your opinion. I think a lot of people are very happy with the size and growth of lemmy right now.
