This is really not a new finding, but just consistent with what was already found by previous studies, but here we go:

The report found that 98 per cent of respondents that had socially and/or medically transitioned had significantly higher levels of happiness and satisfaction.

The researchers found reasons for detransition were due predominantly to transphobia and “challenges related to social acceptance”, such as not being accepted by friends or family for being trans.

“Social and structural explanations dominated the reasons why respondents reported going back to living in their sex assigned at birth at some point,” the report read.

“Only four per cent of people who went back to living in their sex assigned at birth for a while cited that their reason was because they realized that gender transition was not for them. When considering all respondents who had transitioned, this number equates to only 0.36 per cent.”

I used to be friends with a bi guy who'd cross dress from time to time. He stopped after he got beat up for it.

Why didn't he have friends with him?

I don't go anywhere without Smith and Wesson.

I have a friend who's in her 70s, transitioned after retiring. Her wife left her after she came out. Her friends and family, well. Not anymore. Her wife even took her dogs, who died without seeing her again. Like just absolute 'fuck you' kind of treatment. And yes in the past year or two, she's had some really unpleasant times where she expressed interest in detransitioning, or living as genderfucked or something.

When you ask her tho, is that what she wants? She says no, she wants to be able to go out in public and not feel like a monster who everyone hates.

Protip do not retire in a red state if you're vulnerable in any way.

For the life of me, I cannot understand if transphobes are just not aware of how stupid their arguments are, or if they know perfectly well and the stupidity of the argument is some kind of show of power.

They haven't evolved the ability to breathe through their noses and walk upright yet. I doubt it's a power play. They just don't have the mental processing power to grasp the concept of a trans person.
