Can't we like, globally cut off any and all ties with the US and leave them to fester in their own hellhole? Hell, we'll build the walls AND pay for them!

I'll tell my Canadian wife and all of the millions of protestors about your warm and inviting attitude

Shut up or help. Eos

Shut up or help

They are trying to help the people who are making the mistake of traveling to the US.

[-] thedruid@lemmy.world -1 points 2 weeks ago

No, they're being a dick

As an American, don't travel to America though. Fucking Nazis are in charge.

Know how Vietnam lost in the end? It wasn't the ground war. It was the global trade war.

[-] SupraMario@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Did you drop your /s? Cause I recall Vietnam winning both wars against the us and french.

Call me ignorant, what do we call victory? They're capitalist today, not a commune. Yes, they're not occupied or genocided, but they lost their identity and values by becoming capitalist as a result of the war. Because it was that or famine under trade chokehold. We have different definitions of victory I feel.

If you're expecting me to say Communist is the way to go... you're on the wrong instance. Capitalism has its flaws, but acting like communism is what needs to replace it, is a fucking joke. Capitalism has brought more people out of poverty than any other system ever. It definitely has its issues and can be done better, but as someone who has a large part of my family from exsoviet countries....not a fuckin chance I want that shit anywhere near me.

They didn’t?

How many international incidents are we up to now?

[-] jjpamsterdam@feddit.org 4 points 2 weeks ago

So we're now at the stage where people risk being arrested without a charge by goons unwilling to properly identify themselves and then being killed because of that?

The current situation in the United States is eerily similar to 1930s Germany in my opinion. We're probably just a few months away from political opponents being picked up on made up charges or even disappeared straight up.

[-] drmoose@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

You can really see how Hitler happened when there was no free information flow like the internet. Even now people are confused but imagine if all you had is literally just hearsay and the newspaper says nothing bad is happening and there are no goons kidnapping people.

I even understand much better why Germany fell prey to fascism at the time. Germans had gone through two million KIA, major territorial losses, a once in a century pandemic, hyperinflation, crippling economic war reparations and a once in a century economic depression in the span of less than twenty years and yet only a third of them voted for the fascist in the last free election. Keep in mind that democratic tradition was not firmly established in Germany by that point. Meanwhile US citizens have gone through a major economic crisis in 2008/9, a major pandemic and and increase in egg prices and suddenly more than half of voters there chose the fascist.

I assume he was too brown for the average canadian....

[-] Bravo@eviltoast.org 2 points 2 weeks ago

Nah, photos show a white guy. He probably had memes on his phone or sassed an ICE agent.

[-] lost_faith@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago

Time to call our citizens back and close the border, or at the very least mark the US as one of the most dangerous, if not most dangerous, places in the world. Cancel that deal they just signed with that scammy US co (saw the article earlier but forget where it was).

[-] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Close the border, build a wall, and make the US pay for it.

[-] lost_faith@lemmy.ca 0 points 2 weeks ago

Border walls are pointless (look at the southern US border they climb over, through, and even under), but a beautiful hedge running from coast to coast would be nice

[-] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

I am 100% with you. I just think there’s a beauty in giving the US a taste of their own rhetorical medicine. I’d link to the Trump tirade I was referencing, but I don’t want to do that to myself or anyone else.

[-] rumimevlevi@lemmings.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

What a soft response to such a serious crime. They don't do that when citizens dies or are kidnapped in other non allied countries

[-] TuffNutzes@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Spoiler Alert, he was killed by the Trump regime and New American Fascism.

[-] KingPorkChop@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

Canada Needs Nukes!

Fuck the USA. Close the borders.

[-] canajac@lemmy.ca -1 points 2 weeks ago

He abandoned Canada 3 decades ago, never came back. I say, f' em.
