Yeah, problem is it’s still 16 months until Election Day, and 18 until the next Congress is seated. That’s a lot of time for this current government to continue to do harm. I really wish we had recall elections at the national level.

That's where the resistance has to last 16 to 40 months, slowing down and making people aware enough of these things:
- how unserious about budgets Republicans are
- how much they are trying to punish regular people (poor middle and moderately wealthy class),
- while also looking to use the they are spending to subsidize companies, multi-millionaires and billionaires.
No words spent around reforming the democrats and getting them back on track, I see.
That conversation has to happen now as well. But the points I raised are related to despair of the Reconciliation bill passing and those climate setbacks.

I find it astounding that Americans STILL think there's democracy in America.
It's gone and it's not coming back for a long, long time.
And that's why many people won't vote. Defeatism is a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Defeatism was beaten into us by defeat after defeat after blatantly undemocratic defeat.
And it's just electoral defeatism. You can't beat the master at his own game because he's the one that makes the rules.
Try a little revolutionary optimism instead.

We the people aren’t afraid of this, but if the establishment dems catch wind of a primary challenger who’s left of center, they will come down so hard on them with millions in DNC attic ads and literally try to cancel the primary if they have to to keep them out.
It’s why Mamdani’s win was such a big deal. The establishment was all about Cuomo and they still aren’t lining up behind the voters pick.
The thing is it looks like the party will be happy to let their bigger names just refuse to endorse him. Media will spend the next few months attacking him for being a scary socialist. And the dnc will suddenly lose track of their “vote blue no matter who” bumper stickers and be happy to fundraise for cuomo as an independent.
I’m sure though they will send Mamdani and old button making machine or something so they can claim that “this is why we don’t run far left candidates, maybe next cycle we could run Liz Cheney instead!”
Then why have Congress vote at all? Why didn't Trump just use an EO to put all the provisions he favored in place?
It’s much easier to stifle open revolt with sham elections. Putin has been doing this for decades now in Russia.
