Inspired by the Low Tech Magazine, I thought about adding a dithering option to Lemmy. When posting a new link or image, you could set the image to "dithered", choose one from a couple different colors and the image will be created in this style. It looks cool, saves bandwith, storage and energy.
What so you think?

If this was added to PieFed I would use it along with the IRIX theme and surf like it was 1993.

I'm a big aesthetic fan of 1-bit dithered images and art. But it's hard to believe it's actually saving any energy.

Check this, the image size is around 15% of the original.

Maybe severely reduced bandwidth is the idea.
