Thames valley police hate the car. I’ve been done a couple of times that way. 33 in a 30 for me last time, Really strict.
I always thought she moved things along too fast
Does the UK have speed traps? Towns and villages padding their budgets by lowering speed limits just to increase speeding fines?
Towns and villages are funded by taxation and government grants. It is weird to us that your towns get to hire their own police and make up fines like they do.
If you think arbitrary fines are bad, you should look up asset forfeiture.
No because towns don't get to set their own speed limits and also fines wouldn't be paid to the town it would just be paid to the police in general. It all goes into a big pot of money for the entire country.
The fines go direct to central government rather than local.
UK isn't as car centric as US and we have a (not great but better than US) public transport system.
I always knew we had a lot in common.
United Kingdom

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
