Impressive to be able to say all this with Intuit's cock in one's mouth.

[-] ghost9@lemmy.world 22 points 7 months ago

The words came from the dick. It's just that technically the words did come out of his mouth.

[-] ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zip 33 points 7 months ago

Fuck. I used it for the first time last year and it was incredibly easy. Now I have to go back to being charged by TurboTax for something that should be automatic and free.

[-] QuarterSwede@lemmy.world 20 points 7 months ago

Freetaxusa.com is another good one.

[-] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 7 points 7 months ago

Still cost money for us to file. Not totally free.

[-] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 11 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

I believe it's $15 for state filing but free otherwise. Even this free IRS program would have you file state taxes separately.

I used CreditKarma the entire time they offered their program and tried CashApp after they bought it from CK. I believe it's still completely free but the process is annoying as you have to at least partially use the CashApp app on your phone to log in.

[-] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 6 points 7 months ago

Better than paying Intuit to lobby for you to have to pay Intuit.

[-] lmmarsano@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 7 months ago

cash.app taxes is another: OKish.

IRS provides a guide to file for free. Some state revenue departments provide similar guides.

[-] QuarterSwede@lemmy.world 0 points 7 months ago

Federal is free, state is reasonably cheap.

One thing I didn’t mention, TurboTax has forgotten our historical tax information twice. That’s when we finally kicked them to the curb. Freetaxusa has been solid and quicker to use. Plus a few Intuit. Oh and ban lobbying already.

OVER HALF the States have the software already installed to be able to provide FREE state filing DIRECTLY on their websites...but can't because they're trapped in a contract with Intuit/The "Free-File" Alliance

[-] PunnyName@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago

There have been other free filing options before. Just not sure how they're going to be affected.

https://www.fileyourtaxes.com/

I used this before I knew about direct file.

[-] bradorsomething@ttrpg.network 1 points 7 months ago

Send them paper, that’s their problem.

[-] theunknownmuncher@lemmy.world 0 points 7 months ago

Paper filing is free and just as easy as the direct file service

[-] ikidd@lemmy.world 23 points 7 months ago

He looks like the epitome of the typical corpulent Republican fuck.

[-] TheBat@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

Jabba the Hutt looking ass

[-] thedruid@lemmy.world 20 points 7 months ago

Guess who can fuck right off? That guy!!!

[-] heyWhatsay@slrpnk.net 14 points 7 months ago

Seems like a good time to stop paying taxes.

Wouldn't that be a cool boycott against this administration? No taxation without representation as they used to say...

[-] MangioneDontMiss@lemmy.ca 2 points 7 months ago

you're still paying taxes?

[-] expatriado@lemmy.world 12 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

it was not created for his convenience but ours, but that doesn't matter i guess

[-] Joeffect@lemmy.world 11 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

The whole fucking thing is scam so turbo tax and others can suck money out of people

[-] ZMoney@lemmy.world 11 points 7 months ago

We're at the point in wealth concentration where you can just look at someone and tell when they think poor people should be slaves. He looks like the Monopoly Man.

[-] JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 7 months ago
[-] TheFunkyMonk@lemmy.world 8 points 7 months ago

Is anyone even left to check anyway?

[-] Sludgehammer@lemmy.world 17 points 7 months ago

If you're poor, yes. If you're rich, no.

[-] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

Paper filing is 6 years behind.

[-] innermachine@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

Might be another use of the massive ICE budget, could broaden their horizons

[-] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 7 months ago

The open-source repository relies on internal APIs at the IRS. It's not really meant to be run by your average John Doe.

Is that Boss Hogg?

“You’ve heard of Direct File, that’s gone,” Long said. “Big beautiful Billy wiped that out. I don’t care about Direct File. I care about direct audit.”

Jesus i thought he was calling himself "big beautiful Billy" in the 3rd person the way they used their capitulation in that quote lol

[-] Gowron_Howard@lemmy.world 8 points 7 months ago

If everyone stops paying taxes what the fuck are they going to do about it?

[-] TauZero@mander.xyz 8 points 7 months ago

Almost all taxes are collected from the paycheck before you even get your hands on it. The filing is mostly for the tax return on the overpayment. They've already thought of it. How you gonna stop paying?

[-] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 5 points 7 months ago

I'm self employed and none of my pay gets withheld for taxes.

[-] TauZero@mander.xyz 5 points 7 months ago

Good luck then! Actually curious to see how it will work out.

[-] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

Yeah... I thought about not paying taxes last April but I don't want to draw unwanted attention to myself. Did the IRS have a bunch of people let go? Yes. Does that mean that they don't have enough staff to realize I didn't pay and come after me? Maybe I don't want to find out. I'm self employed through my own LLC and I don't know enough about taxes to do them on my own anymore and I have to pay someone to help me anyway, so the free software wouldn't have helped much. Last April was the first time I had to do this, prior to that I'd been an employee at a company that withheld taxes.

[-] AlecSadler@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 7 months ago

My 1099 jobs I'm supposed to pay the taxes.

My W2 jobs, I just set allowances to like 20 so at least the bare minimum is being taken out.

[-] 13igTyme@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago

By adjusting my W2. It's not fucking rocket science.

[-] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 6 points 7 months ago

Was this guy AI generated because he looks and talks like he's AI generated.

[-] pfc_hudson@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

I've thought about putting all my owed tax dollars in an escrow account for the next 3+ years.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

"Let them eat cake"

[-] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago

Oh.... awesome. That's great

[-] atticus88th@lemmy.world -2 points 7 months ago
