[T] he poor design of the resource rent tax has meant little or no money has been collected. According to Treasury, “to date not a single LNG plant has paid any petroleum resource rent tax and many are not expected to pay any significant amounts until the 2030s.

Nor do the big multinational exporters of gas — including Exxon, Shell and Chevron — seem to pay much company tax. The Australian Taxation Office has labelled the oil and gas industry “systematic non-payers” of tax.

You voted for this... don't cry now!!!

When are people going to learn that the business of politics in not about the people... it's about staying in power and getting into power. There are no statesmen left in the world.

And how should I have voted? Which party would ensure that these entities pay their dues?

What would I be crying about? Besides the massive NDIS rorting that went on unchecked for a decade, things are pretty alright from my pov

I just wish they'd stfu up about gaza when the Battle for Pokrovsk is getting incredibly close :(

One of our local candidates was exposed as a NDIS fraud leading up to the election. He didn’t get in, but that electorate had always been a safe Labor seat.

Even after the exposé, his party still decided to run with him because the didn’t have anyone more honest that they could put up
