Holding it for 3 days didn't cause your cognitive decline ya clowns. Your cognitive decline is why you held it for 3 days tough.

Some people regularly poop once every three days. No holding anything in. It's perfectly normal.

For anyone curious about the article

This research wasn’t “designed to test the causal relationship between bowel movements, the gut microbiome and cognitive health, so we cannot firmly draw conclusions regarding the precise causal sequence underlying this association,” Ma said.

They believe it might have to do with medication side effects, gut biome, fiber intake, and exercise frequency all of which influence your frequency.

Isn't cognitive decline a requirement to join Lemmy?

I can't speak for everyone, but that sure is what brought me here!

If you go shitting again, you're safe. At least if you do it regularly enough.

I poop 3 times every day which means I'm getting smarter

[-] MajorMajormajormajor@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 year ago

You poop out the dumb every time!

[-] kool_newt@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Does pooping frequency correlate with intelligence? What about pooping duration? I can drop a deuce and return and not drop a beat in our conversation.

[-] sentient_loom@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah you're at least 115 IQ

[-] BeigeAgenda@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

Just wait until they get the runs, that must at least give an extra 40 IQ

It's worrying but it must be done for the greater good

[-] doleo@lemmy.one 3 points 1 year ago

Is that a publication using the word "pooping" to speak to adults?

[-] DaveNa@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Is an actual article about an actual research. PS: I don't understand the meme. Could someone explain it to me? Thanks.

[-] svahnen@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

In the beginning of the migration there was a guy that asked for help on how to not poop for 3 or some days and would not tell anyone why, this sparked a bunch of memes, I don't have any to link but they should be easy to find if one is interested.

[-] DaveNa@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Thanks. Still don't get it. The pic is the lemmy users thinking about the non popper guy?

[-] KreekyBonez@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I'm reading it as, Lemmings nervously worried we were entertained by the self-inflicted plight of a user that may have caused them cognitive decline.

also, poop joke funny

[-] svahnen@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

A lot of ppl tried to make it sound like a contest, and see who could do it, it was everything anyone talked about for a couple of days 🤷😂

[-] DaveNa@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Thanks, now it makes sense. :)

[-] Peruvia@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yea, it became an inside joke. After the big migration, a lot of us were thinking about how things will work out, we were unsure and uncertain. I logged in one day and saw this post, cryptic and engulfing. Here is the said post. It was a roll.

[-] Dubious_Fart@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Well thats weird, considering I'm dumber now shitting every day, than I was in my youth shitting once a week
