Parent comment topic was about Toxic Masculinity. And tittle is Why does it seem like so many (young) men these days flock over to types like Andrew Tate? at Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world

Pussy word is used for men who lacks daring in reasonable situations. I don't see how it is rude & misogynistic? Probably they are sexist if they think woman can not be unemotional, stoic, strong and courageous.

You responded to a 5 month old post and said it's fine to shame men for not falling for toxic masculinity, using a gendered insult in the process. Your single comment was removed, and you decided this was a power trip worthy of posting here within the hour. YDI

Take the L mate. You talked shit and faced consequences.

[-] hendrik@palaver.p3x.de 15 points 1 week ago

Hmm, why don't you look for something useful to do if performance is important to you? Not to be mean or anything, but I think this isn't cutting it.

[-] 1141kizzie@thelemmy.club 3 points 1 week ago

Yeah you are correct, i should not explore social media aimlessly

Or just use it as an opportunity to learn something, whatever it is. I think talking to people online is fine. You just gotta be aware of the circumstances and think about what you're trying to achieve, every now and then.

[-] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 4 points 1 week ago

Yes I agree... I don't understand anti online sentiment by people online lol

Fedi as far as social media goes is the best since you are talking to actual people about topics that provide some educational value

Jerking corporate social media where you are being fed corporate sloop and regime propaganda... Obviously that different

Because its association with vagina, so using it as an insult is akin to calling men "effeminate". Calling them womanlike for supposedly being timid is insulting to women and therefore misogynist.

Probably they are sexist if they think woman can not be unemotional, stoic, strong and courageous.

🤣🤣 these attempts at defending bigoted insults by turning the accusations around are always pretty funny but this is twe most hamfisted attempt I've seen yet.

Also how is unemotional a desirable quality in a person? Serial killer shit right there

[-] josefo@leminal.space 3 points 1 week ago

English language is wonderful. Cunt means something else entirely. What other vagina derivate insults do you guys have?

[-] 1141kizzie@thelemmy.club -3 points 1 week ago

Calling them womanlike for supposedly being timid is insulting to women and therefore misogynist.

But this p word is always used like this.

Why holy shit is not insult to religion? You are calling shit holy?

Because its association with vagina

Then solution to piss off misogynist is simple, call brave women dick. Bravo greeta thumber, you are real dick!

Calling them womanlike for supposedly being timid is insulting to women and therefore misogynist.

Hmm that as motive makes sense, but it is still unjust IMHO, which word you would have used instead? Coward? Gutless? P word is always used, never saw any other word used for this.

these attempts at defending bigoted insults

That looked insult to you, not me. I had no idea, tbh.

[-] Flatworm7591@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 week ago

Take this as a learning experience to become familiar with non sexist insults. Coward and gutless would be perfectly suited alternatives. It's the same principle as using "gay" as a pejorative towards a straight man. It's only insulting if you think being gay is something bad, so that is the implication. Just because these words are commonly used as insults in society doesn't mean they are not a form of commonplace bigotry.

[-] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

But this p word is always used like this.

By you.

Why holy shit is not insult to religion? You are calling shit holy?

"Religion" is not under attack at all. Quite the opposite.

Then solution to piss off misogynist is simple, call brave women dick. Bravo greeta thumber, you are real dick!

Ok you're just a corny troll who doesn't give a shit. So brave.

[-] 1141kizzie@thelemmy.club -2 points 1 week ago

Religion is not under attack at all. Quite the opposite.

you are just spreading your propaganda, I am talking about language. I hope these religious extremist people ban these words so you can experience unfairness of censor of language. They are not only fascist, look at mirror

By you.

Your famous & beloved person said it multiple times

[-] Tomorrow_Farewell@hexbear.net 1 points 1 week ago

you are just spreading your propaganda

People who think that some of the richest and most-protected organisations in the world are being oppressed are silly.

[-] masquenox@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 week ago

Pussy word is used for men who ~~lacks daring in reasonable situations~~ do not measure up to the rapey, violent and/or generally vile standards of toxic masculine behaviour.

FTFY.

[-] Lyra_Lycan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Well, yes it's ingrained misogyny, and it's also ingrained into modern language. The mod can't expect to force people to stop using a word they personally disagree with, especially if it's normalised in the speaker's world. Censorship of basic speech and expression is the reason some of us left Reddit ffs

Edit: Read your comment. Your whole comment reads like a poor attempt at an argument which never existed.

  • Emotions are part of humanity and creatures with autonomy, to unconditionally stifle emotions is to reject the idea that you exist in any meaningful way.
  • No, it is never "right to shame others".
  • You've perceived a decreased performance in what way?

Sorry to check you like this, but some of the things you've stated don't entirely align with my worldview. I am of the belief that all beings are valid and deserve, at the most basic level, a free life and general comfort. Ridiculing someone can negatively impact this, and as modern life is already hostile to the vast majority, being nice to folk is the least we can do.

[-] UniversalMonk@anarchist.nexus 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

You all are just making up shit to be mad about now. Bro, if ya call people negative names, good chance you get banned. From lots of communities. How about you just make your point without name calling?

Try calling your boss a pussy. Then try telling that boss that you don't see it as a bad word. See what happens.

I'm not against calling people names. In fact, I love calling people pussies when I get pissed off. But I wouldn't fall over in shock if some mod removed me for it. And I wouldn't look into the history of the insult and try to find out why it's not insulting. Language use is fluid. Lots of things are insults for weird reasons.

Now you're using this community to try to redefine insult words?!

YDI

[-] HubertManne@piefed.social 4 points 1 week ago

I think its funny how the word cunt is like asshole whereas pussy is like coward. I can't think of any other part of the anatomy with such versatility.

[-] Skiluros@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

You'll find the same attitude from the mods in this community.

[-] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 week ago

I think it's a common attitude among decent people everywhere.

[-] 1141kizzie@thelemmy.club -4 points 1 week ago

Yeah, those who use them can't be decent people. Its only one criteria in our cult

Performative actions benefit no one.

[-] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org -2 points 1 week ago

Censoring speech because of choice of words... That's pretty standard and well documented on here tbh

You are going to speak however mods like or you won't speak.

[-] Telorand@reddthat.com 4 points 1 week ago

That's how moderation on any platform works and has worked, yeah. Or do you suppose people have a fundamental right to start talking about how awesome Hitler was and how his ideas were actually pretty good and how we should replicate them in a modern context?

Libertarian freedom of speech is such an embodiment of "tolerating intolerance," and it can fuck right off. Refusing to learn to talk kindly doesn't make you a hero, it makes you an asshole.

[-] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org -3 points 1 week ago

Nice job to tie Hitler in 🤡

[-] Telorand@reddthat.com 3 points 1 week ago

Not my problem you don't like what you see in the mirror.

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.
