Sample scoop part 1 of 2. This was a knob of soap left by one of Maggard's sample packing angels.

Dark chocolate dominates the initial scent. As I progressed, the other components popped out. The soap (Kaisen 2e base) performed very well.

Today was my first shave with FaTip Lo Storto Gentile (slant with a scalloped safety bar and their classic, hollow handle). Compared to il Piccolo Storto, this handle is wider (14mm vs 12mm, I think ) and hollow with less mass. The balance point is much more towards the head. I initially didn't like this at all.

The razor performed well and was very efficient (more than 37C) but was more forgiving on the angle. This will be a better daily driver considering early morning, bleary-eyed shaves.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

  • Brush: TGS Galaxy 26 mm
  • Razor: Leaf Thorn
  • Blade: Derby Premium half DE
  • Lather: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber
  • Post-Shave: Zingari Man - The Master, recovery splash; moisturiser
  • Passes & Info: single pass WTG head shave. Comfortable, not very close though.

I did this shave way earlier today before my late shift. Yes, I worked yet another weekend. And it was awful!

This combo is really good, but I only did WTG to avoid any cuts or anything else. It wasn't a very close shave, more akin to using a dry shaver. Still nice to finally get to a shave again. Tomorrow will be yet another quick shave, as there's an event by my welfare organisation to welcome the new trainees for this year and honour those who passed their exams this year (like me) and the practice instructors/mentors. I finally got my final results and the exam in the mail on Friday btw, couldn't be happier. Tomorrow should be a nice closing point and a chance for some networking. I don't like that I'll be going completely alone, but I don't plan on staying too long anyway...

Hope everyone else had a great Sunday!

September 28th, 2025: So nice

  • Brush: Zenith - 508A XL/Bristle (B35) (MOAR BOAR) 31mm Boar
  • Razor: RazoRock GOAT
  • Blade: Personna Lab Blue (2)
  • Lather: Noble Otter - Batters Up - Soap
  • Post Shave: Old Spice - Hawkridge - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Nivea - Sensitive Beard & Face - Balm
  • Fragrance: Fanzine Saponifications - Caravaggio - EdP

An excellent shave. Had I changed one thing about this shave, it would be the brush. I'm very close to calling it for this brush, and will most likely be giving it away. I like brushes that can splay, and this brush is a painter. It feels great and is a very nice brush, but no sense in keeping it if I don't like it all that much!

Septidi 7 Vendémiaire an 234 de la Révolution, jour de Carotte

Since people here like anise, and so do I, I decided to get out Absinthe. A good, very close shave.

Have a good day!

Absinthe++

My only gripe with it is that I wish there were slightly more anise and slightly less mint.

They targeted more a pastis with mint sirup (a parrot) than OG absinthe 🤣
