I have decided for my mental health to take a break from Lemmy and go touch grass instead. I enjoy my time here, but it is taking away from things I should be doing, and things I want to do. I find myself doomscrolling for hours on here and I know that's not healthy.

So I am going go finish reading a lot of books.

Going finishing writing a lot of books.

And going start going on long walks.

Starting a new job Monday and it will be work from home. I am excited and nervous, but ready for the new chapter of my life. And I need to do something productive and unplug for a few weeks from all the negative shit going on in the world.

Besides October is coming up soon my favorite time of the year, so want to enjoy the real world for a bit and hop off social media. I'll be back but hopefully I can do better than scrolling for hours on end.

Hope you all have great rest of the month, and also a wonderful Halloween.

Have you done work from home before? I've been doing it a looooong time, so if you want to hear any of my tips or mistakes, let me know.

I would love to hear some tips and mistakes, please. Some people seem to love working from home while others just can't get the hang of it.

100% remote worker here as well. If there's no magazine/group/whateveritscalled for us we should have one

Remote workers of the world, unite! (But you have to put on pants first, sorry.)

I never got the whole sloppy work from home vibe.

I mainly wore jeans but I always got fully dressed, hair fancy, cologne and deodorant, no different from going to an office.

I have a desk that is for work only. In stay there most of the day doing work (snacks excepted). When the day is over, I walk away.

I suppose some struggle with the temptations of home, but I always felt comfortable. Yes, leave some goof off time here and there, play with the cats, have a luxurious BM, but get your stuff done.

I never worked from the sofa, nor did I watch TV or movies from any screen. Lunchtime walks were good (and more snacks).

I actually like Lemmy for the fact there isn’t an infinite amount of content like on Reddit. After about 20-30 minutes on here I find myself seeing the same content coming up again and again and then there’s no interest in altering on here. That’s good for me because this is my only form of social media.

How tf do you find content to be doom-scrolling lemmy all day?
I browse it once in the morning and after my breakfast I can consider all the content as checked.

That said, this is why we need the normies and the artists (YES, even the ones who draw porn), lemmy content is basically news and reactions (like comic-strips, images or videos) to the news, it still lacks variety

I also have needed to take breaks before, it is definitly needed sometimes.
Something that really help with doomscrolllung was moving anything doomscroll related to my "favorits" and removing them from my "subriptions"

This way I have a feed of upliftong and interestinng content if I want, and if o'm feeling daring I'll check out how some political commuities are or I'll just look at "all"

In any case have a pleasent break to heal yourself♥
