Suspension problem (sh.itjust.works)

Hi, I installed Linux Mint on a Asus Tuf Gaming F16 i7 13620H 4050 rtx, when I put it on suspension it takes a long time to wake up and the wireless becomes unavailable, I need to reboot to make it work again. I've already installed the latest drivers and updated the bios. I really don't know what to do, can it be a hardware problem? Thanks.

Did updating your \etc\modprobe.d\ help?

Is it a laptop? For some reason I've always had issues on laptop and suspend mode on linux, I think it's a commom issue. Which version of mint adn kernal version?

Yes, it's a laptop, I’m using the latest 6.14.0-33

I'll need a coffee to read all that.

There are some aspm states you can try disabling on your wifi card and see if it helps, more info here:

Are you using swap? If yes how much? It is recommended to use 1.5x your installed RAM if you want to use hibernation or suspension.

Here is some reasoning from redhat.

[-] Markaos@discuss.tchncs.de 0 points 6 days ago

You don't need any swap space for suspend to work

[-] Kr4u7@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

True, but i had similar problems in the past. I had 32GB RAM and when suspending it took years to boot and one day it didn't boot at all. A second hard drive with 50GB swap solved that problem for me.

[-] anon5621@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 week ago

I think u need try to use more modern versions of linux kernel

[-] utnapishtim@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago

I'm using the latest 6.14.0-33

[-] lemming741@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

That's too modern 🤣

My Lenovo t14 amd 360 misbehaves on 6.11, but is great on 6.8

[-] utnapishtim@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

Should I revert to an older kernel?

[-] lemming741@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

It's worth stepping back to through the "latest" 6.11 hwe and 6.8 hwe kernels to see if it improves.

[-] utnapishtim@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

So going back to 6.8 solved the screen problem but not the wifi, still some thing.

[-] lemming741@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Are you dual booting windows by chance?

Maybe check if there is newer firmware available for the chip set.

[-] utnapishtim@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

No dual booting

[-] anon5621@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 week ago

Hmm would be nice if u would provide logs after wake up from dmesg

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
