Sooo... I guess I was outta the loop pretty hard. I just spun up Omarchy on account of all the hype surrounding it, and had just enough time with it to fall in love with the workflow before stumbling on this post.
So does anyone have a recommendation for a good tiling window manager that isn't created by racists, transphobes, mysogonists, or any other kind of bigots? Or is this just a... time to run back to base Arch with KDE sorta day?
Edit: And if you are going to inform me that Arch or KDE is run by or support bigots... can you wait until the weekend? Please?
I like sway. It doesn't get in the way and I don't really need the eyecandy (and there's als sway-fx).
Then, you can create your own workflow with dmenu/rofi (or even use walker, like Omarchy).
Also: check out Bread on Linux's videos. She's so wholesome and chill while keeping the linux spirit real.

Everyone I know in KDE-land (granted quite a few have moved onto other things now) was always welcoming and inclusive.
And despite Miguel de Icaza (Gnome) being an absolute douche, Ive never known him to be problematic in a right-wing way either.
But thats just what I know, and I don't know everything. But I think youre OK with KDE and Arch.

I realize I didnt mention arch... But I'd note there that the sheer quantity of not cis het men running arch is a good indicator IMO.
Good point, and I'm going to hold on to that. I've been on Arch so long I've forgotten how to spell dnf...
If you do end up back on KDE, Khronkite is a great kwin script for dynamic tiling windows. Not quite as good as Hyprland.
I've played briefly with river but it's a lot less dynamic (at least visually). I haven't found anything that feels as good as Hyprland.
sway, niri are both good, different kind of WMs.
Been looking at Niri, seems really cool. And I greatly appreciate the level of comments in their config files. Can't be sure I'll like the "scrolling wm" style, but only one way to find out! Thanks for the rec!

I firmly disagree. Anyone who doesn't actually know what framework is, will see them via a google search on the laptop in passing interest. Anyone who comes across a post like this when researching isn't going to continue further to see if they got better, just like people who make these posts aren't going to go back and change their comments saying otherwise.
Additionally, It's optimistic to say that they should vet projects before giving them money but, chances are this is going to just dissuade them from giving money to projects in the future.
But this is also assuming this actually takes off, Lemmy has been the only area I've even seen the complaints about framework
Let me sum up the reasons.
DHH wrote a blog post on his experience with immigration in the UK. Some people think that makes him a Nazi. He also runs the omarchy distribution.
There was a transphobic post on hyprland‘s Discord, which was unmoderated at the time.
It's not one comment from hyperland, it's an harasement campain that led them to be baned from freedesktop.org and rightfully so.
And the blog post you liked is a rant that there not enough white people in london while supporting the tommy robinson march ( a nazi event ).
Funny how there's already people downplaying how bad it actually is.

Well, out of all projects they funded, they just so happen to mention the nazi one significantly more than the others on Twitter. They like mentioning it a lot.
And it's not an important package or some foundational project.
Why is it an overreaction? They mention these weird arch dotfiles so much, people just wanted an answer.
