NEW YORK — Leaders of Young Republican groups throughout the country worried what would happen if their Telegram chat ever got leaked, but they kept typing anyway.

They referred to Black people as monkeys and “the watermelon people” and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies and driving them to suicide and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

I'd love to say this surprises me, but it does not in the slightest.

Yes, pretty much the type you'd expect to be a young Republican.

Bet you they all have amazing parents too

Pretty much defines Republicanism today. Way too many people in denial about how extreme they've gotten.

100%. These assholes have been trained to gaslight and trot out nonsense about Robert Byrd being in the Klan like 100 years ago, or that Democrats were the real racists because of shit that happened before the 1960s, and completely ignoring (or lying about) things like the Southern Strategy and how the parties completely re-aligned since the Civil Rights era.

Thing is, I'm a white guy and I know how these motherfuckers talk when they think they are in a safe space. I grew up in an area that was overwhelmingly Republican, deeply racist and nearly 100% white.

They ain't fooling me, I can tell you that much. This ain't my first rodeo, I've heard all this shit before, and I've seen these mofos in action online since the BBS days, and shortly after that, the USENET days. I don't care what kind of rhetoric they try to dress their "movement" up with and it doesn't matter what protocol or platform they are on....their methods and tactics like employing the Gish Gallop should not fool anyone, either.

I used to be an internet edgelord, until I recognized that it doesn't matter if you aren't actually a bigot when you act like one online. The impact is the same, it makes the real ones feel more comfortable in their views.

I also came to this realization around age 16, and it sounds like these guys are in college...

[-] silence7@slrpnk.net 7 points 2 months ago

Up to age 40, not just college-age

[-] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 6 points 2 months ago

The thing about being edgy is that it shouldn't necessarily imply a particular political bias but if it always goes One Direction that's indicative

[-] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 5 points 2 months ago

One of the "Alt Right Playbook" videos talks about how the right wing don't argue against each other. I don't like internet videos, but i make an exception for this series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMabpBvtXr4

One thing that snapped me out of that phase was a psychology professor saying your actions define what you are.

I don't think there are as many edgelords anymore anyways. Since the Trump MAGA era nobody pretends. It's all out in the open now. You either are or you aren't. Nobody hides behind the "it's just a joke bro" stuff like in the older internet eras. The bigots aren't hiding their power level anymore.

Stole this description from the other post about this.

Thousands of private messages reveal young GOP leaders joking about gas chambers, slavery and rape.

Leaders of Young Republican groups throughout the country worried what would happen if their Telegram chat ever got leaked, but they kept typing anyway.

They referred to Black people as monkeys and “the watermelon people” and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies and driving them to suicide and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

William Hendrix, the Kansas Young Republicans’ vice chair, used the words “n--ga” and “n--guh,” variations of a racial slur, more than a dozen times in the chat. Bobby Walker, the vice chair of the New York State Young Republicans at the time, referred to rape as “epic.” Peter Giunta, who at the time was chair of the same organization, wrote in a message sent in June that “everyone that votes no is going to the gas chamber.”

[-] Fmstrat@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Wow, read this whole article.

[-] khannie@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Thanks. I just did because of this. Holy cow.

[-] Jayjader@jlai.lu 8 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

“If we ever had a leak of this chat we would be cooked fr fr,” he wrote.

Get cooked, fuckface. nihilist racist pieces of shit

Great job on Politico's part, though.

[-] Doomsider@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

A whole new generation of shitheels coming down the pipe. Would be a shame if someone connected all their hate speech to them on the Internet so all future employers, friends, and romantic interests can know about their true colors.

What is so goddamned infuriating is how the RW assholes like Tucker pull that Murc's Law shit - that if he finds that he "has" to vote for fascists, it is the liberals that made him do it, because they have been (rightly) pointing out what fascists the Republicans and conservatives really and truly are.

That's some serious mental gymnastics there - the fascists that keep showing their hand are going to end up fascists because the meanie smarty-pants liberals called them fascists, and that's the only reason they are fascists. Well, that, and most entertainment and universities and science and culture really are not overly friendly to the far right, and even might have - gasp - not attacked the already-marginalized. Those monsters. Yep, it's entirely the fault of the "woke" mind virus that the fascists became fascists who voted for other fascists. No other reason. Some blue-haired trans with too many face piercings stole their masculinity or something.

Even worse, the fucking Tone Police among the "centrists", the corporate/conservative mainstream media that is called the "liberal media", and not a few Democrats help them in this bullshit narrative.

[-] TootSweet@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

As if they don't say this kind of stuff publicly.

[-] meco03211@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

That's just it though. They hide the worst parts of their beliefs until they are in their safe space. In public they obfuscate their true beliefs with pandering and cliche language. Prior to these revelations I'm sure they'd vehemently deny being racist. Even after this release they'd still probably try to deny it.

The Hitler Youth is back, although they never really left.

NYS Assembly benefits administrator here. I can't wait to process the termination paperwork for Peter Giunta. It will be the highlight of my work week. Edit: I got to process the paperwork today!

Peter Giunta, who at the time was chair of the same organization, wrote in a message sent in June that “everyone that votes no is going to the gas chamber.”

[-] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

Future leaders of the party, screeching xbox kids that fucked your mom and discord racists. Wonderful. Love that for the US.

[-] MeekerThanBeaker@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Young Repugnants.

[-] AeonFelis@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Can we fix the showers? Gas chambers don’t fit the Hitler aesthetic

Not that I expect anything from these people, but... seriously?

[-] monotremata@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago

And his last name is "maligno." Even Disney wouldn't use a villain name that blatant. Is really just a really bad fanfic at this point?

Remember: at the national level at least, democrats (at least the liberals) are foaming at the mouth to work across the aisle with these people and pass legislation that "every" american, including these shitstains of humanity, will agree on.

These people don’t bluff. When people show you who they are believe them.

[-] logicbomb@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

It's so ironic that conservatives idolize some of history's biggest losers, because had those losers won, there's a chance that people today wouldn't even be allowed to form their own opinions.

[-] chaogomu@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

That's always the goal. If everyone is oppressed, but they get to participate in the oppression of others, they'll jump at the chance.

It's the fucked up social contract that fascist supporters have with their dear leader, support dear leader unconditionally and dear leader will declare a new group of people to be below the supporters in the social hierarchy. This giving the supporters license to oppress that group.

While the supporters don't like getting shit on from above, they take great pleasure from shitting on those below.

"we are officially under consideration for a (fucking child rapist∆) endorsement"

Fucks sake. How damn stupid/evil do you have to be to think that an endorsement from the Orange TurdNugget is a good thing?

( ∆ I will not say or write its' name ever again. The tangerine traitor doesn't deserve it, fucking kiddie fiddling nonce)

[-] titanicx@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 months ago

You mean Donald j Trump, child rapist, and best friend, self admitted, of Jeffrey r Epstein? So his name, but always include all the details so Google and ask other search engines know who he is.
