Any good blocklist will include rules that filter out the complete cancer that is imgur. I can't see your memes. Use something else, or just upload them to your instance.

Is it really because "Imgur is cancer," or are you just a UK person butthurt that you got geoblocked because Imgur refused to comply with your government's censorship/attack on privacy?

If it's the latter, go bitch at your MP, not us.

(If it really is the former, understandable and have a nice day.)

Well, I'd say imgur did the people of the UK an unintended solid in that scenario. But I am not located there.

It'd be kind of weird if anyone on SDF doesn't know how to run a VPN, anyway.

I don't get how people are still generating links to the actual image file listed on imgur. That shithole seems to have learned how to always direct you to their full dumpster website instead of just the image

I just press and hold on the image to "open image in new tab" and send that url. 60% of the time it works every time.

Yeah maybe a year ago they changed the direct linking to bringing you to a landing page. The new owners are determined to drive it into the ground.
A bunch of people started this project https://imgcat.io/

Hmmm sounds suspect tbh. They make a lot of privacy-focused corpo default-template statements like "we won't partner with anyone who will [sell your data]". Yet they're using Cloudflare and their participation links are also 1.- a Google form and 2.- a Discord server (aka a "nu-community").

It is probably just because it became an idea thing last month I think; After ingur fired mods, and started taking down posts about trump etc.

There's nothing built up yet, thus the google forms is my thought.

Oh fuck yeah. Thank you!

If you're really interested in seeing imgur content without the tracking, you could use one of the imgur frontends.

Isn't imgbb the land of image not available?

[-] Anivia@feddit.org 4 points 1 day ago

Yes, because it had an optional feature to automatically delete the image after a certain amount of days

[-] qualia@lemmy.world 1 points 18 hours ago

Tho it defaults to don't delete, so if it disappeared it's due to a feature not a bug.

Imgur blocks my VPN. It's one of the reasons I hate them. I'm not going to poke a hole in my network just to see what your ass was too lazy to actually post to your instance.

[-] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 7 points 1 day ago

I'd be curious to hear how these dots are connected for you.

[-] remon@ani.social 2 points 1 day ago

I assumed you can't see the pictures because you're in the UK.

[-] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Nah, I've blocklisted them at the router level because of the nauseating amount of ads and trackers they employ.

The body of my post is suggesting this should be common practice for these reasons, and people should use something else

[-] BCsven@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

If you use mobile you can also install TrackerControl from F-Droid (not the playstore version, playstore version is tracker viewing only)

It creates an internal VPN so it can block blacklisted ad and tracker sites. It made browsing Imgur bearable.
