Vivek Ramaswamy, the former presidential candidate running as a Republican for governor of Ohio, posted a Halloween photo of himself and his two sons on Friday. The post received a wave of xenophobic and racist replies, including one user who wrote, “I see this year Vivek went as an H1B immigrant here to steal your jobs. Very scary. Like the brown version of the Grinch.”

Good, but if you are a minority and you are still in the GOP at this point, you are a stupid motherfucker.

Just sayin'.

As a latina, I am so absolutely ashamed of how many latinos have been supporting the face-eating leopard. A lot of it comes from machismo within the culture, I hated that shit growing up

[-] nandeEbisu@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

If I can armchair psychoanalyze for a minute, as someone who is a minority I do see that people within my community who have low self esteem seem to think that any kind of asking for help that doesn't relate to going all in on some kind of sigma grind set, fuck handouts is some kind of confirmation of their inadequacy.

It's kind of sad to see. I've seen a lot of people go down that red pill, weirdly ethnocentric road. Some bottomed out and came to their senses, others aren't there yet but hopefully will change course before then.

Even if that’s true, it won’t last. These issues have long lasting effects and they’ll get pissy when the next administration doesn’t immediately fix it. Since they voted for this shit once we know they’re not intelligent or discerning.

These MAGA minorities think "they're one of the good ones"

It's only a matter of time until they find out, like they always have in history, that the white ruling class doesn't give a shit about them, and will cast them to the wolves when they're done using them.

[-] ikidd@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

If there's a minority that considers themselves Republican, they're too damn stupid for this to make a difference at this point.

[-] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Token Republican minorities realize they are in fact token minorities, apparently having gone their whole lives somehow not realizing the most solid core of the Republican base is... white Christian racists.

This is exploding all through the right wing at the moment.

Ben Shapiro appears to be genuinely baffled that roughly half the Republican base under 30 likes Nick Fuentes more than him...

...he had a live discussion with his own employeees, including Matt Walsh, where Ben says it would be 'an Agatha Christie novel' to figure out if he were assasinated, whether it'd be from a far left or far right person...

... meanwhile Matt Walsh just cannot be arsed to give a fuck either way... because he is white, Christian, racist, and extremely confident in his...I guess just majestically un self aware world view, total fucking dead eyed sociopath, 24/7.

Mark Levin and Lindsey Graham are yelling slurs and profanities at Tucker Carlson and Nick Fuentes, in public speeches at a fairly high level conservative event... evidently somewhere between baffled and terrified that they need to explain that Hitler was bad, Israel can do no wrong, and if you disagree, go fuck yourself.

(EDIT: Meanwhile, Tucker's interview of Nick includes Nick saying... that Mark Levin was the person who introduced him to the concept of white demographic decline as ... immigrants tend to have more kids... and thus Levin is actually the person who started Nick down the path of realizing that we should all just be as cruel as possible to non whites, because white good brown black bad.)

spicier content from a white trash guy who both truly understands and also truly despises white racists

(... also, in case it isn't obvious, 'Fuentes' is a hispanic name. Very literally, it means 'fountain', more contextually, as a name, it is Spanish for something like 'fountain of abundance/life'. His dad is a Mexican American, best I can tell, his grandpa was born in Mexico.)

(So if one wants to play Nick's own game... Nick is really just white-passing, now isn't he?)

(By Nick's own metrics... I'm French, Norweigan, German, Italian. And yes, its northern Italian. Pretty sure I'm more 'white' than he is, by his own metrics.)

(His fucking eyes aren't even blue, hair ain't even blonde. I'm much closer to the look of the aryan ubermensch than he is, but if you ever see me on the streets, it'll be dressed with a black and red emblem, maybe arrows, maybe an angry kitty kat... fuck do i hate nazis)

These fucking actual morons have been lying to themselves their whole lives that a massive chunk of the movements they are a part of, helped to grow and mold... that a huge chunk of their fanbase isn't actually just dumb asshole racist bigots.

They apparently actually do largely believe their own obvious bullshit.

And now, they seem to have only just realized this, at the very moment that the dumb asshole racist bigots may actually outnumber the older school, corpo suck off neocons.

This is uh, strategic level, almost a stupid as the Dems softwalking Trump's prosecution during Biden's admin, and also running cover for and aiding the Israeli genocide, which lead to an actual fascist takeover of the government.

Now, the Republicans have achieved that, we are not even a year in, and, well, we're on schedule for a Night of the Long Knives, an internal party civil war.

JFC, this is all so predictable to anyone with an understanding of politics and history that expands further than the last 40 years of the US... but, hedonistic myopia is apparently just what we do now.

Always interesting how collaborators honestly think they'll be exempt once they usher fascists into power. Vivek hasn't read much history apparently.

[-] shawn1122@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

Vivek has gotten obscenely wealthy by extolling a conservative worldview. I think be knows exactly what he's doing, even if it is entirely self serving.

This leopard won't eat MY face; I let it out from its cage!

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Also, really, Vivek should be happy. This is literally the free speech he supposedly fought for and the sort of speech Twitter was re-engineered to proliferate.

[-] zd9@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

As we all know, it was never about "free speech", it was about "saying every racist/hateful thing without any consequences or societal pushback". They're actually just saying that out loud these days.

[-] crazycraw@crazypeople.online 0 points 2 weeks ago

WHO are these gullible ass idiot minorities that support the Gop. do they even exist? I never see anything but a 'tokens' at shows regarding their conventions.

did you black, Hispanic, Jewish, middle eastern, European idiots think these rabid white people weren't ever only helping their white ass bullshit ass christian ass asses, well how about you ask your phone.

Hey Google, tell me about the last 100 years

[-] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 3 points 2 weeks ago

do they even exist?

Unfortunately, yes. There's no ethnic, religious or otherwise group without two digit percent Republican support.

[-] Seleni@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I mean, there was a group called Jews for Hitler, so…

But in all seriousness, there’s many reasons why.

Indian people for example are, sadly, a bit racist and very, very classist, and the higher-caste Indians kissing Trump’s ass think they’re in the same category as ‘white’ people.

Most Mexicans, on the other hand, were straight-up lied to. Many don’t speak English very well, and the Spanish-speaking news stations did some very liberal editing on their translations of Trump’s speeches, to make him sound coherent and sane. Seriously, if you speak Spanish check out the translations of his speeches; it’s not even remotely close to reality.

Former Cubans generally see anything called ‘communism’ as bad, and that’s how the Right has painted the Dems for a while now (never mind anyone with a brain could see that they’re nothing of the sort). A lot of them also really, really hate illegal immigrants, and so anyone who promises to get rid of them gets the Cuban vote.

[-] nandeEbisu@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

The number of "Latinos for Trump" at my gym which is in a fairly blue area was pretty disconcerting.

I think they felt patronized by traditional liberals who also took their vote for granted, which is fair, but they handled it in the worst possible way.

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

They're not idiots. They were lied to, kinda like when student borrowers and wage earners supported the Democrats thinking Biden would lift a finger to help them out of poverty.

[-] Theprogressivist@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Nah, they're idiots.

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 week ago

Believing anything a Republican says is in good faith makes you an idiot.

[-] nandeEbisu@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I dunno, he did say he would be dictator on day one.

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

...unless it's something horribly evil. Then you know they mean it.

[-] N0t_5ure@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me over and over again, I'm an idiot.

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago

You just aptly described the two-party system and the people who vote for it. Cheers.

[-] Rhaedas@fedia.io 1 points 1 week ago

Vote FOR it, or vote IN it. Two different things. Pretty sure most people would love more choices to fit the many directions and not have to accept with "close enough" or "better than the other one". As for voting in the system as it exists, there is absolutely the option to just not vote because you feel it's a waste... but then you get what we have now, since most non-voters (for whatever reasons they didn't) would have not picked Trump.

The real flaw: people who shout that voting is useless during a voting year, but then don't try and improve the system during the off years with what's there. Of course it's the same voting dichotomy if no one bothers to change it before the next cycle. You get what you put in. I would suggest that it's because of apathy between voting periods that's the problem, people vote (or not) and then ignore politics until the next go around, and are shocked that it's the same.

[-] shalafi@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago

Take a political organization with no policies, no substance, only nationalist slogans and propaganda. It should be obvious that such an org, having no plan for real and beneficial change, will eventually turn in on itself because they need someone to blame for the lack of progress. And who did these guys think they would start with?

Assumed I was talking about the GOP? That comment easily fits the Democrats. Observe how they're turned on players with actionable plans, Platner, AOC, Bernie, Mamdami, et al.

[-] paper_moon@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Ah yes, democrats. Known for their nationalist sloagn's like "Support the troops" and "America First!" And "Make America Great Again!" am I forgetting any others? There has to be some around Reagan and Nixon's time I'm forgetting.

[-] shalafi@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

They say the same exact things you quoted without hammering them into slogans, same meanings though. Their voters aren't as easily swayed by quickie little blurbs, they aim a little higher, longer sentences, but the messages still lack meaning. But maybe that's why their messaging isn't hitting? Would you argue the Democrats are winning the propaganda war?

You want to argue the Democrats have real policies of substance? Real plans to move our economy and society forward? Because all I see them doing is killing the tiny minority that have articulated plans. You want to argue the Democrats aren't imploding? I gave examples I think we mostly agree on around here. You gonna address any other part of my comment?

Lemmy: We hate Democrats, but don't dare compare them to the GOP! We'll call you out for 'both sides' and nullify your opinion!"

[-] paper_moon@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago

I'm sorry, I'm still not getting it, can you explain a bit more about your viewpoints?

[-] shalafi@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago

If you have nothing to add? 🤷🏻

"No thanks, picked out the bit I wanted to argue, got my 'burn', we're done here."

OK.

[-] paper_moon@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I dunno man, you seem to have a lot to say, wanted to leave room to fully express your views.
