I love when she hides her little nose when she naps. This is my main babe, Penny. Her coat has all the colors of the kitty rainbow and for a small as she is, I've never met a bigger bed hog. She also snores. She means the world to me. She is truly my best friend.
When I had a cat in the 90s, we used to prank each other.
I'd wait until she was asleep, and curled like this. Then I'd place a feather right behind her back, and put my hand under a book or under a cover. Just enough that I could hold the feather, without her seeing my hand.
Then I'd use the feather to lightly scratch her back with the feather. The trick was making it so she barely felt it.
She'd wake up, roll over, and just see a still feather. Then she'd curl back up. Then it would wiggle. She'd look over, and just see a feather. She would investigate but my hand was long gone. But she knew it was me somehow.
So then when I'd sleep, she would attack my toes. And when I woke up because it tickled, I'd see her curled up, and "sleeping".
I miss her. Only cat that got the concept of pranks.
You sound like a great human companion for her. I'm sure she loved you very much and I'm sure you loved her very much. RIP kitty D:
That is extremely wholesome. It sounds like she had an amazing kitty life full of attention and care.
She would do this thing where she would jump straight up at my chest when I got home from somewhere.
She expected me to catch her, midair, at chest level, so I could hold her like a baby. Well I'd gotten so used to it, just catching her everytime. Then I came home one day with 7 bags of groceries in both hands. I walk through the door. My plan was to go over to the dinning room table, put the bags on the table, and THEN do cat greetings.
She had other ideas. She trusted me so much not to hurt her, and trusted the routine so much that she ignored my full hands. She jumps up, my hands are full, and it happens so fast you don't have time to think. Just time to react.
I ended up closing my forearms around her, and essentially catching her on top of the groceries. She just looks at me like "C'mon dude. We've practiced this. What are you doing???". And I just asked her "Are you comfy now? Laying on my bread, and what looks like a box of stuffing? Couldn't wait for me to put down the groceries?"
Not in a mean way. In text form it looks so much harsher than it is. I was using playful loving voice....but I was also a tad annoyed.
I learned that with groceries to just put the groceries on the porch. Come in empty handed. Do cat greetings, and THEN go back to the porch and bring in groceries.
So much so, that she's been passed away for over 15 years at this point, and occasionally out of habbit I leave the groceries on the porch, come in, and realize "oh, right...." and then bring in my groceries.

Mine does that too. It's so freaking cute. She'll like reach out to stretch and then cover up her face. Such a little baby. I'm glad you are also blessed with such a sweet cat
I just adopted a cat and today was the first day she sat beside me and took a nap. She was doing this too. ❤
Congratulations! I just adopted a kitty too on Sunday, so she's still acclimating. But she did get used to me at the rescue so she already headbutts me and lays on me...
I'm sure you already know, but let her go at her pace. There's no rush, as long as she's eating, drinking and toileting. Maybe she never comes around, and that's okay too. But I'm sure with patience and time, she'll come around. Also, thanks for adopting. I'm sure she appreciates, even if she never shows it (because... cat. ya know?) <3
I'm trying not to rush her, but she's just so fuzzy and cute!
i understand :) it hard to not keep giving them attention. My cat gets annoyed with me because she just wants to nap, but I always want to pick her up for cuddles and pets and shit haha <3

It took Penny weeks to get comfortable with me after I broke her out of jail. I've been her person ever since. I was kinda worried she would never warm up to me there for a while. Now, I can't sit down without her jumping on my lap or at least getting an earful about how almost empty her bowl has been for a full 36.25 seconds when I walk in the door. It's awesome when a cat chooses you as their person. Especially, when they're adopted as an adult carrying around all the trama and fear they may have learned during the time out in the wilds.
wouldn't be a cat if she didn't complain about her bowl being nearly empty, despite it only being empty for a few minutes. <3
thank you for adopting and not buying. Rescue cats/dogs are every bit as loving, and they need homes and don't deserve to die alone in a cage :(. Anyway, I hope you and your new kitty enjoy your time together so very much <3
