Fairly sure this was predicted months ago, with the triggering event being the recent elections that were swept by the dems. The prediction was basically that if it looked like they were going to lose control of any of the houses, there'd be a ton of people trying to put distance between themselves and the govt as there's a higher likelihood they'll get prosecuted for crimes. So the early resignations, and attempts to "apologize" are mostly just about trying to avoid accountability for their actions -- rats fleeing a sinking ship.

“This entire White House team has treated ALL members like garbage. ALL. And Mike Johnson has let it happen because he wanted it to happen,” they told Punchbowl.

“That is the sentiment of nearly all—appropriators, authorizers, hawks, doves, rank and file,” the lawmaker said.

He blasted what he called “the arrogance of this White House team,” accusing them of running members “roughshod and threatened” while denying them even “little wins like announcing small grants or even responding from agencies.”

Oh no! Anyway . . .

furious House Republican

You're going to have to be more specific. They're always mad about something stupid

[-] Formfiller@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Party of traitors, pedofiles and Cowards

G.O.P. stands for Guardians of Pedophiles.

Finger's crossed that Boebert is on the list

[-] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

They'll all quit and Trump will declare congress is no longer necessary

[-] pr06lefs@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 months ago

I don't understand why these butthurt republicans don't just start voting against trump. Like somehow the only options are toe the party line or resign.

The Madison Cawthorne orgies probably.

[-] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago

It's weird how this was entirely forgotten.

[-] devolution@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Pepperage Farms remembers.

[-] chocrates@piefed.world 1 points 2 months ago

It was used as a cudgel. It's not needed anymore

[-] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 months ago

They're afraid. Trump has more or less blacklisted every dissident from the party and its allies. It's a career ending move and he's even threatening some people with criminal charges.

I mean obviously they should do it anyway because it's the right thing to do. But they didn't get to where they are by pursuing public good over their own personal well-being.

[-] turdcollector69@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

They don't want to get kirk'd

[-] santa@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago

People w/o spines don’t just grow them like Chia Pets. If they don’t have the guts to fight, they need to go. Even if they opposed one item — that wouldn’t be it. Democracy won’t survive silence.

[-] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 months ago

They're gonna take their lifetime pensions, millions in insider trading, and high value contacts, and get thw fuck out before the music stops.

[-] knightly@pawb.social 1 points 2 months ago

That's the smart move, especially if they have somewhere that they can lie low 'til the dust settles and the heat wears off.

[-] JollyBrancher@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago

And long-term special guest spots as being a victim and "Surviving My MAGA Nightmare" anchors on Fox?

[-] mic_check_one_two@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 months ago

They’ll get a golden parachute job as a highly paid lobbyist, and be right back in the rotunda, schmoozing with all their old buddies by the end of the month.

It's actually spelled Felisha in the credits, but I think spelling it Felicia still adds a little zing to the line.

“This entire White House team has treated ALL members like garbage. ALL. And Mike Johnson has let it happen because he wanted it to happen,” they told Punchbowl.

It's not just members of the House. They treat everyone like garbage. They're narcissists who don't give a shit about anyone else.

[-] Crashumbc@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

It's almost like if you support and elect a dictator...

[-] phar@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 months ago

If only they hadn't supported a wannabe despot

[-] FenderStratocaster@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

These days, every time I hear good news I think, "How am I being played on this?" There is always a catch, it's fake, or it's a bold-faced lie. There just isn't good news anymore.

[-] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 1 points 2 months ago

Here's what I think MTG is planning.

If we get a Blue wave next year [fingers crossed] she'll be able to go on all the news shows and blame Trump.

Expect her to say something along these lines "I was all for Donald Trump, but like you, I was betrayed. But no one man is bigger than MAGA..."

She's setting herself up for a Georgia Senate seat.

[-] FenderStratocaster@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

Potentially. I think she wants to be a Fox News anchor.

[-] danafest@infosec.pub 1 points 2 months ago

Not sure she really fits their "visual aesthetic"

[-] Zanathos@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Fox was accidentally put on our work TVs today (usually CNN which isn't much better). For some reason I was able to see past the makeup and I'm pretty much every host they have now is just the Crypt Keeper underneath 20 pounds of the stuff.

Gov. Brian Kemp will have to call for a special election. With Greene’s announced resignation date of Jan. 5, 2026, the northwest Georgia district will go without representation on Capitol Hill until a new congressperson is elected.

Hang 'em high, citizens.

[-] wuffah@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

There is a lot of policy failure and blowback that contributes to this, but I like to think the party and the people are finally unable to tolerate Trump’s narcissistic abuse.

This idea of a government based on the destruction of perceived enemies is not sustainable, and is constantly eating itself for sustenance. At some point, you have to actually figure out where money for food is going to come from and screaming into the void about Democrats, immigrants, and abortion doesn’t pay the bills. The American people need healthcare, housing, education, childcare, food, and hope. NOT ICE raids, bizarre southern military excursions, shutdowns, and traumatized federal workers.

To me, this is a wonderful reminder that our votes still matter, and our system - as large and slow and complex as it is - has careful structure and momentum. The Republican Party still must respond as such.

Can I ask my the daily beast gets posted here so much, it seems like it's just a advertising farm

[-] Sunflier@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

I can't see the advertisements because of my uBlock extension in Mozilla. So, I post it because of the story with no understanding or comprehension of the advertisements.
