Blaming remote work, the avacado toast of 2023.

[-] Psaldorn@lemmy.world 48 points 1 year ago

The workers today need to cut back on.. Let's see.. they're already eating gruel and working 3 jobs.. free time!

They need to cut down on free time and spend it stuck in traffic.

Hey, don't stop hating avocado toast. People still eat that. If they would just stop they'd have time to work another job.

Go back to work in the office, slaves, so you need to buy my shitty cars to commute.

So sad that Space-X, which has done such incredible things to advance spaceflight, is run by this idiot. It's a testament to the intelligence and hard work of the engineers and scientists working there, despite him, I suppose.

[-] Renacles@discuss.tchncs.de 66 points 1 year ago

He's not even there, ever since he bought Twitter he's been camping there coming up with new ways to bankrupt the platform.

I'd guess he never actually did anything in Space X except for publicity stunts.

[-] Syndic@feddit.de 52 points 1 year ago

I can't imagine how happy the people at SpaceX were when he got into the whole Twitter mud pile. There's nothing worse for a company than a stupid CEO who way overestimates his own capability and constantly micromanages shit that a CEO shouldn't even care about.

That would be some interesting observation to be done. Imagine statistic showing whenever he leaves for another company, income of the previous jumps.

Downvote Musk spam.

The billionaire doesn’t need your help ensuring him and his businesses stay in the 24 hour news cycle. Don’t be a useful idiot.

[-] rab@lemmy.ca 20 points 1 year ago

Yea this isn't news. I wish mods would delete posts like this.

Couldn’t possibly be instances like this, could it?

https://lemmy.world/post/7058416

Or the price premium for FSD that doesn’t actually work?

Or the reports of poor build quality?

Or the difficulty in getting service?

The lack of customer service?

Or maybe people don’t want to support a company run by an unstable dickhead?

[-] paddirn@lemmy.world 28 points 1 year ago

I honestly would love to buy an electric car, but Musk himself is probably the number one reason I'll never touch a Tesla. All the other stuff just reinforces why I shouldn't buy one, but just not wanting to give any money to that dickhead is my primary reason for not going with one. Maybe all the other car company execs are dipshits too, but they at least have the sense to not talk so much.

[-] CosmicTurtle@lemmy.world 21 points 1 year ago

For me, it was when reports were coming out that Tesla actually made repairs harder and didn't allow shops to repair their vehicles without voiding the warranty.

It's like if Apple sold a car. Proprietary shit can just get the fuck out.

[-] poprocks@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

Musk is why we won't consider Tesla when we get to that point. It's also why we won't use starlink.

I think it’s because he’s trashing it’s brand by acting like a little nazi.

[-] CyberDine@lemmy.world 42 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I wanted a Tesla when I thought Musk was pretty cool with everything he was doing with SpaceX.

Then the pandemic hit and I learned exactly who he was. There's no way I'd ever support Musk now, let alone voluntarily give him my money.

Dude looks like he sniffs his own farts, and he likes the smell.

I think it’s because he’s trashing it’s brand by acting like a little nazi.

I only know two people with Tesla's but both of them are embarrassed to be driving around in one and aren't planning to buy another one. Obviously that's just anecdotal, but if Tesla can't separate themselves from Musk while he's trashing his personal brand and right while a ton of competing electric vehicles are coming on the market... they are going to have a bad time.

I just bought a brand new electric car and wouldn't dare get a Tesla now because of him. I got a Cadillac lyric instead and it's been awesome.

[-] Harvey656@lemmy.world 66 points 1 year ago

Seriously why is this in Technology. Please God I want to learn about supercomputers, space flight or jet powered shoes, not "Elon musk said this!" Like who cares?

Oh, I thought it was the CEO's online reputation and the fact the people are hearing more and more that their after sales service is shit, eg being charged £17000 for a new motor which is apparently the driver's fault for driving it in the rain. In Scotland.

https://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/motors/couple-charged-17000-tesla-broke-27925815

Apparently the problem has been known for some time:

[-] TBi@lemmy.world 21 points 1 year ago

I remember seeing a video of a Model S in water and Elon boasting the car would float and use its wheels to propel along the water.

What a massive douche. Talks a good game about the environment and then spouts this filth.

Eat the ducking billionaires

[-] Buffalox@lemmy.world 27 points 1 year ago

He doesn't give a shit about the environment. That gig was just a business opportunity, and a convenient sales pitch.

No, it's because the main thing teslas had going for them is that they were cool. That is no longer the case.

[-] Spellinbee@lemmy.world 22 points 1 year ago

100% that, plus more competition.

There was a point where I had planned on getting a tesla for my next car, but now I'm avoiding it like the plague.

I saw this directly under the post about the people getting a £17,000 repair bill for driving in the rain. Perfect.

[-] lagomorphlecture@lemm.ee 11 points 1 year ago

Ok, but what kind of moron thinks cars are supposed to work in inclement weather? Rain is not normal.

/s just in case

[-] danielton@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyz 36 points 1 year ago

No, people don't want to spend $60,000+ for a disposable car that you can't drive in the rain.

I suppose it has nothing to do with alienating your core demographic.

[-] capital@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago

I doubt it’s that so much as other established car makers coming out with some good EVs.

I think those holding a lot of Tesla stock are about to learn the hard way why they should have diversified.

[-] Filthmontane@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago

It probably doesn't help that people are finally getting more educated about all the safety issues Teslas have.

[-] Ab_intra@lemmy.world 30 points 1 year ago

Elon should get "bullshit" tattooed on his forehead..

[-] Teal@lemm.ee 26 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Wrong again, Elon. It’s your fault.

[-] GissaMittJobb@lemmy.ml 19 points 1 year ago

Holy fuck, could this be why he's against remote work? Because it threatens to undermine car dependency in the U.S?

[-] JoeKrogan@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yes we will all go back to the office just to boost your sales 🤡. They are really trying to push this return to office narrative.

When the company is doing well, it's because of Elon. When it's doing bad it's because of everything else.

Ok, Elon.

[-] themurphy@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Let's all hope car companies will be worth less. They would do just fine being worth 50% less

This guy acting like he doesn't have billions if we stripped him for 50% of his own wealth.

[-] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 15 points 1 year ago

Sure Elon, it couldn't possibly have anything to do with your cars being absolute shit, and you being absolute shit.

[-] RanchOnPancakes@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

Funny how people find other reasons why but no one mentions the fact that the market did exactly what Musk wanted it to do and other manufacturers started producing EV cars so Tesla isn't alone in the game anymore and it's much easier to find dealers for well established brands. Heck, I live in a city with a dealer of every brands (even Volvo) except Tesla, the closest place to get one maintained is 200km away!

[-] Red_October@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

Except that's not what he actually wanted to do. Musk's direction of Tesla was absolutely not with the specific intention of getting other brands to move into his market segment, and then completely outcompete him. Whether by virtue of the other brands having high quality standards, or Tesla's shitty quality lowering the bar so much that nobody else could be worse, Tesla being the worst EV brand was not the plan.
