Colonialism can be done right. It's completely possible for people from more-developed areas to help those out in less-developed areas.

The problem is that everyone from these developed areas has been conditioned to believe the only reason to do anything is to make someone else richer.

Eh, it's yet another meaningless resolution for the sole purpose of creating this screenshot. It's a 3 page document saying effectively nothing.

I mean, it was drafted by the following paragons of fighting for nation's right to self-determination:

Belarus, Bolivia (Plurinational State of), Botswana, China, Cuba, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Iran (Islamic Republic of), Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Nicaragua, Russian Federation, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of), Zimbabwe and State of Palestine: draft resolution

Just to show how meaningless:

Reaffirming that any attempt aimed at the partial or total disruption of the national unity and the territorial integrity of a country is incompatible with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations

Russia co-drafted this btw

Read the entire thing here:

https://docs.un.org/A/80/23

The reasoning behind each abstention can also (probably?) be read online. See Germany's:

Ireland abstains. I get that this vote is largely symbolic, but how in the hell are you a country who suffered from colonialism at the hands of the british and abstain from the vote?

What did the resolution actually say?

This is fucking insulting. Palestinians are dying and the UN wants to throw vague shade about it by declaring a "day"? "Thoughts and prayers" at the nation-state level? Fuck off.

A lot of european countries too.

I guess now we just need to list the people who are responsible for these and bring back the good old guillotines :)

Well, this will certainly do something and isn't some performative fluff.
