I had a great week! Biggest thing first, I finally quit my job!!!1!! Fuck that place I'm never bartending again woohoo! Now I have to look for a new job but that's a problem I'm putting off.

I've been feeling a bit braver recently. I was nervous about telling my boss that I was quitting but after I just felt normal. A bit proud, a bit anxious, but mostly just fine. Also when I had to kick out a guy who was on coke and being a complete asshole, I was afraid but I was able to do it.

Other than that, I went to the gym a few times with my friend and finished the second act of the first draft of my novel

We're so back chat, 100 pages reading streak back on, I got several books I wanna finish before the year ends. Gonna be doing more plasma donations for a time but shrug-outta-hecks and I'm still working on my online learning in between. Next year gonna be my year, already shaping my gut biome to perfection

I'm also ready to kick some ass in 2026! unity

I feel like I have a decent baseline of good habits, hopefully I can make even more progress next year

Never stop improving and I'll keep posting in this com so thanks Moonlake for making these improvements threads

I had a horrible week and took massive Ls because I got sick and I couldn't focus for the life of me. But this week I want to focus really hard so I can cruise into Christmas weekend and enjoy myself. But I want to try going to bed and waking up earlier. I think it might help me with my sleeping issues (which I also need to endeavor to fix otherwise). Otherwise I have a couple deliverables that are each one step away from success. It makes it feel like I can't rest yet because it's so devilishly close to being ready to put into other people's hands.

I think that a sleep routine is one of the most important things for good sleep. Especially if you can stop using screens and do some reading before bed. I'm trying to do that but it's still a struggle

This week I practiced meditation on 5 days in a row. feral-hog I'm also trying to do 60 jumping jacks a few times a day.

Other than that, I'm trying to hang out with people and feel the holiday vibes

Well done, comrade. Meditation is great, thanks for the reminder that I should start it again. 60 jjs a few times a day would for sure stack some good fitness.

I use Insight Timer for meditation, it's a good free app. Regarding exercise, there have been some studies that vigorous exercise is very effective even in short bursts so I'm even more motivated to do it daily

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

Trying to start running more than once or twice a week again. I'm not signed up for any events which makes it harder for me to motivate. Reading is going well, right now I'm a third into Enshittification, which is good, but at least so far he's missing the layup to explicitly call out capitalism for its evils.

Self Improvement

333 readers
23 users here now

A community which focusses on improving yourself. This can be in many different ways - from improving physical health or appearance, to improving mental health, creating better habits, overcoming addictions, etc.

While material circumstances beyond our control do govern much of our daily lives, people do have agency and choices to make, whether that is as "simple" as disciplining yourself to not doomscroll, to as complex as recreating yourself to have many different hobbies and habits.

This is not a place where all we do is talk about improving "productivity" (in a workplace context) and similar terms and harmful lifestyles like "grindset". Self-improvement here is intended to make you a generally better and happier person, as well as a better communist, and any other roles you may have in your life.

Rules and guidelines:

  1. Posts should be about self-improvement. This is obviously a wide category, and can range from advice, to finding resources, to self-posts about needing to improve in a certain area, or how you have improved, and many other things.

  1. Use content warnings when discussing difficult subjects.

  1. Do not make medical decisions solely because of a discussion you have had with any person here (e.g. whether to take or not take medications; diagnoses; etc.) as we do not vet people. All medical problems should be discussed with a real-life medical professional.

  1. Do not post harmful advice here. If this is seen, then please report it and we shall remove it. If you are unsure about whether it's precisely harmful advice or not but feel uneasy about it, please report it anyway.

  1. Do not insult other users and their lifestyles or their habits (unless they ask, I suppose). This is a place for self-improvement. Critique and discussion about a course of action is encouraged over shit-flinging. Don't talk down to people.
