I believe that that's a MacOS X system. One can only imagine what kind of madness goes on over there.

I have three Linux VMs (Kali, Arch, Fedora) but I don't use them very much. All my shit is on macOS though. I know that I can move files from my mac environment to my linux environment using scp but IIRC I just forgot to do that.

If you set up a Kerberos server and use that for sign-in on both the Linux and MacOS systems, then you can have matching goetic demon accounts on both Linux and MacOS. :-)

The home directory of macOS is called Users

You're going to need TempleOS to clean all that up.

Let me rephrase: Why WhateverCase?

[-] F04118F@feddit.nl 3 points 1 week ago

[-] Morphit@feddit.uk 1 points 1 week ago

They're both camelcase. Your one is dromedaryCase, the OP is using BactrianCase.

[-] lmuel@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 week ago

I've seen this movie before. You need to throw away that computer and then burn down the dump.

Is that MacOS or GoboLinux

Edit: I see macports which sounds like a MacOS thing, and Macs as a concept are somewhat related to Linux as they're both Unix-like.

[-] Eat_Your_Paisley@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

MacOS is Unix, Linux is Unix like

[-] brandocorp@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 1 week ago

MacOS is Unix, Linux is Unix like

MacOS uses Darwin as its kernel. Darwin is sort of based on BSD, which is also a unix-like kernel.

[-] SlurpingPus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

MacOS uses XNU as the kernel. But indeed it's based on 4.3BSD, by the way of Mach.
