Point out to libs that "give me everything I want and then we'll negotiate" is not actually negotiating

This is exactly how entire western "diplomacy" looks since 1991, and this is how libs think it should look.

If only the dems tried negotiating this way with Republicans instead of literally then opposite

“Joe Manchin, we are going to ruin your fucking life if you don’t help us pass the green new deal”

No fucking way should that happen. Both Hamas and the other Palestinians know that lack of any collateral completely removes literally any tiny amount of leverage they have. They already tried working with the US and Israel in the "correct" ways, and just always get fucked without any real ability to push back. They would be better off just constantly uploading or streaming videos of them taking care of the folks in all possible ways. Allow families to see that (aside from lacking resources) their loved ones are fine.

Also would allow a constant look at the blanket bombings from Israel are the only things placing them in any physical harm or mental distress (aside from the obvious stress that anyone being held hostage would feel). Would be maybe useful for upping pressure on Israel to stop turning off the power and water, and for allowing aid supplies in. It won't stop Israel but would help in getting more people and nations to stop voicing/giving support to them and the US. Because the US and Israeli govs and media will still act like it is Hamas and Palestinians as a whole are the "unreasonable" ones.

the hostages that Israel refused to take

[-] Shinhoshi@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 1 year ago

Can you say more about this?

[-] porcupine@lemmygrad.ml 24 points 1 year ago

Hamas offered to release two elderly settlers, Nourit Yitshaq and Yokhefed Lifshitz, unconditionally. Israel still refuses to accept them.

I love the imperial framing of shit like this. "That's propaganda." Ok, but is it true? "It's propaganda." What like the people don't really exist? Hamas isn't really releasing them? Didn't Hamas already release other hostages? What are you actually saying? "It's an enemy talking point."

It's maddening that liberals and even plenty of so-called leftists don't understand that every single bit of messaging is propaganda.

I hear what you're saying, but if you openly call it propaganda, most people (libs and conservatives) will take it to mean lying. People will switch off their critical thinking skills if you call it propaganda.

I agree. It's obviously a term used in conversations with people who have a common understanding with you. And we need to seize opportunities to point out that liberals' beliefs are equally as propagandistic when we are debating them.

Yeah, it does work wonders on the libs back home though… 😵‍💫

“Give us your bargaining chips then we’ll negotiate.”

[-] sovietsnake@lemmygrad.ml 23 points 1 year ago

They are the Schrödinger's hostages, the US say they can talk about releasing them but Israel will bomb its own civilians.

[-] darkcalling@lemmygrad.ml 22 points 1 year ago

Oh you mean like all the decades of broken promises? The UN's decision ignored? The continued invasion of settlers? The US sitting idly by, in fact not idly, criminalizing support for Palestine with the threat of losing government jobs? That process that was working so well? That process that the Palestinian people have gone back to time and again and by which now anyone with a brain must realize is just a ruse to calm them down while the slow genocide proceeds?

[-] supersolid_snake@lemmygrad.ml 22 points 1 year ago

They should tell him they were already released and he just forgot.

[-] sharedburdens@hexbear.net 20 points 1 year ago

liberals will defend this

[-] barrbaric@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago

They should compromise on exchanging the hostages for Biden, Blinken, and Netanyahu.

The article state that Israel intensify the humanitarian crisis in Gaza which implied that Gaza had already been in a humanitarian crisis before Israel attacked and sanctioned Gaza before the October 7 Hamas attack. This raise the question of what Israel had been doing in Gaza to provoke the election and organized attack by Gaza. The Western European diaspora cannot simply assume that Gaza became evil for no reason like in generic hero comics. The Israel is not like the European immigrants in North America who are imprisoning Indigenous First Nation people in remote wilderness until they forfeit their land ownership and reparation for the 150 years of child enslavement and inheritance thief in Indian Residential fake schools, and then dump toxic chemicals and landfill with highly toxic leachate into the federal reserve improsonment to massacre Indigenous First Nations to force the surrenderance of property, land, reward for labor, and reparation with the chemical warfare.

I am also surprised that the Western European diaspora and Israel openly admit that they will launch terrorist attacks against all innocent civilians and hostages in Gaza despite their claim that not all Palestianians in Gaza support Hamas's attack. Did all those violent kid's cartoon shows and video games in Western European diaspora brainwash people to support state terrorism that waste enourmous taxpayer's money? Would Hamas release the hostages when it allowed Israel to kill more innocent people in Gaza with less restraintment?
