why what happens in the movie?

There is a cult in the movie whose adherents dress like an infamous paedophile Jimmy Saville. I guess the US equivalent would be Bill Cosby. People in NA are not getting the connotations and are cosplaying as this person at screenings.

I never heard of Jimmy Saville but I did immediately associate the outfit with a cult leader seeing this image since it is kinda the stereotypical "we gonna kill ourselves and go to space" type look. Maybe it would have hit better over on this side of the pond if they dressed like Marshal Applewhite. I think he'd be more well recognized over here.

Then again, if the fact they are a cult is super obvious in the movie then it's still wild.

It was a different writer and director for 28 Weeks and they retcon it in the 28 Years series so they can do commentary about Brexit, etc.

Yeah my bad there. Not sure what the collective noun for North Americans is... Basically the context is struggling crossing the Atlantic.
