The classics are just as fine to play today (I have a huge game collection from my childhood that I never got to play). Indies & Emulation is keeping me busy for a long time. No need to upgrade other than Hard Drive space.

Consoles are not immune to ram and gpu price hikes, Thanks for coming to my ted talk
oki
No need to upgrade until GTA6 comes out for pc. So probably 2years from now?
maybe 3
I don't see any point in upgrading at the moment, regardless whether it's PC or console. I am not going to buy overpriced and poorly optimized "triple A" games, and even mid range 2020 hardware is still perfectly fine for indie games and older classics that to me are still better and more replayable than almost anything that comes out today.
If i'm being completely honest, i've probably regretted 90% of game purchases i've made since 2010, and I wasn't even one of those people who buy a lot of games all the time. So for about two or three years now I've basically stopped buying new games altogether, because I don't actually end up playing them. I can't help that i just keep going back to the same ones I've been playing for 15+ years.
And i'm totally happy that way, I don't need new hardware, I save a ton of money and I can afford to go out on more weekend trips with my wife.
good points
Nah, the games are too expensive. At the end of the day even a midrange or lowend PC still gives you more options than a console.
I just want a Steam Deck OLED that can play all games.
Anti-cheat is rough I agree.
Real
I'm sony's bitch for that very reason.. :c
oof
Or just don't upgrade what you've already got? No one's forcing you to upgrade components
But I want to play today's games, not just retro games... ;_;
an RTX1650 can run the new Warhammer game on low settings, that's not retro and those things cost £40 today. If you're wanting the same power as a PS5, Dankpods managed to make a pc out of the same parts as a PS5 for less than $500US 3 months ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fVAIZkIV7Q

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
Buy a used PC
I might do that on Facebook Marketplace. The ones near me are hella good.
That was my original plan as well, until I saw how much ps5 pro costs

What about the Steam Deck? AFAIK it hasn't changed in price.
I want the Steam Deck OLED or Rog Ally.
But yeah, hasn't changed prices.
