I am very much onboard with the idea of the EU breaking free of the US grip on data and the internet. I also very much want to get out of the US, but I’m trying to figure out how. I have extensive experience in infrastructure, networking, Datacenter’s, Linux, etc. and I’m sure that there are companies in the EU that are needing those skills. I haven’t had much luck with general job boards (unless I’m looking at the wrong ones).

So Lemmings, does anyone know of any good resources so I can help put my skill to use and get out of here while I’m at it?

Maybe look for governments trying to switch from Microsoft to open source alternatives for their digital infrastructures.

Not all of the European ones are trying to do that, but the ones that are, probably need skilled people to do so.

Self-host your own services and servers if possible. Seek out better standards that make it easier to run your own server @ home. Configure the firewall and DNS of your router/local network to block tech-giants using pi-hole.

That kinda misses the point. I want to leave the US and leverage my tech skills in the process. I’m looking for boards/resources for jobs.

work for Linux based companies in europe like Open-Suse makers from germany that support these goals. Maybe Siemens and Bosh have some competent Linux folk as well, but I would guess they still heavily trade with the US/Tesla.

I’m also onboard doing this and I’ve been doing what I can.

I use Proton mail with custom domain, and Proton pass and basically all Proton apps.

Got a 2nd hand phone where I flashed sailfish OS.

I have my own private cloud using Hetzner VPS and backed up everything from iCloud into my own cloud.

I’m also a software developer and will start soon working on some projects, but still need to come up with a plan.

For now I’m just migrating everything to existing European alternatives.

Any ideas for future projects just share here.

That’s a good start, my focus is more on a job though and resources to find a job there putting my skills to use.

I’m sure there are projects being planned but I’m not aware of anything in specific.

This whole EU migration is still quite recent so people and Companies are using existing European tech, and then later might come up with their own projects.
